Magblade Build

Difficult: No Monster Sets

I don't have any monster sets and am getting my butt handed to me in PVP. I'm looking to rebuild her (she has a mishmash of PVE garbage) and I'm terrible at dungeons. So terrible that the thought of grouping up makes my heart pound.

Yeah, I'm going to have to get over that.

Any help would be so appreciated. I don't want to continue being an embarrassment to my alliance.

Remember you can buy monster set pieces at Adhazabi Aba-Daro the Golden with accumulated Alliance points, @Hoolielulu.

So, be sure to save up your AP. Eventually there will be enough weekend offerings in both shoulders and helms for you to complete a 2-piece.

But, yeah, running vet dungeons gets better with practice. Be sure to let your dungeon-mates know your strengths and weaknesses before starting ... including your familiarity with the dungeon.

"May you walk on warm sands."
"First, I would ask that you look to the poor and the suffering around Cyrodiil. Look into their hearts, and then look into your own."
"May Auri-El's light guide you in your darkest hours."

what platform you on? kinda need that monster set. ill help if I can and whats your cp?
Easy magblade pvp build, 5 light 2 heavy, have a play with spell damage vs recovery on jewellery maybe start with 1 stam regen 1 mag regen and 1 spell damage see how you go and adjust. 5x shacklebreaker, 5x torugs 2x skoria. resto enchant damage increase infused and destro enchant oblivion infused.
Is it amazing, no, but you will be able to hurt people from range and contribute and if in danger cloak out and reload.

PS4 NA and 665cp though...I haven't played her very much so I'm still getting used to how she works. Hitting 50 suddenly changes everything, doesn't it.

Have never used resto before. She needs so much work. *I* need so much work!

I will have to put on my big girl pants and get some monster sets. I don't know what my problem is. ;)

If you don't want to use a monster set, you could run something like:

    3 piece willpower (frontbar destro)
    5 piece offensive set
    5 piece transmutation/wizards/lich (backbar resto)

It's not ideal but with practice you could make it work. With a monster set you have more versatility.

Edit: this build is for PvP as OP said they are getting their but handed to them in PvP and they do not want to be an embarrassment to their alliance.

Without monster sets, and I assume just wanting to have fun.

2 pc Willpower. Either 2 jewelry or staves
5 Spinner. Farmable and can be found at Guild Traders.
5 Schacklebreakers with one piece heavy (chest) and one piece medium.. The medium and heavy pieces are for the Undaunted Mettle and HA Juggernaut passives. This is a crafted set.

That is easy to put together and will take good care of you.

For PvP I have a fire staff front bar and resto back bar. Skill change depending on what I am doing.

    Front bar
Strife, Flame Reach or WoE, Impale, Mage, Merciless Resolve. Ult is Eye of Flame Flex spot sometimes has mage light to expose other NBs. Lots of fun doing that.

Back bar, Regen, either morph Ward Ally, Concealed weapon, Shadowy disguise. Rapids. Ult changes to the need

I sneak a lot which is why the concealed weapons as it provides a speed boost.

The rest of the slots depend on the situation. I have fun with this build playing solo much of the time or working the flanks when I see my alliance hitting a keep or defending a keep.

And do run Inpen on armor and infused on at least the front bar staff with a damage enchant like fire.

I'd also suggest getting into a casual guild that likes to run dungeons and overland stuff as guild events. Great way to meet people and learn the ropes. Just get into guild events and let them know your new to the group thing and a bit nervous. I think you'd be surprised at how easy going and open to helping people are in those situations.

Easy dungeons in normal mode are ... easy. And they suffice to get you keys for shoulders. Only the helms require vet mode or doing business at The Golden.

As for monster helms -- which do you want? Valkyn Skoria comes from a difficult dungeon. Grothdarr comes from an easy one. So does Ilambris. Slimecraw ... no, wait, as a nightblade you wouldn't want that. Shadowrend ... ditto.

I know this goes against conventional wisdom, but if you've been playing PvP, I wouldn't let fear hold you back from doing dungeons.
I do both, and PvP has actually made me a better PvE player. More keen on what to watch out for, more alert to my surroundings, better reaction time, and a understanding of self reliance.

Once you get mechanics down, you'll breeze through any dungeon you put your mind to.
Just do your group a favor and put some PvE skills on your bars, and maybe invest in some easy to get PvE gear. A quick youtube search will get you into a serviceable set up for running dungeons.

    Best of luck!

So much stuff! Thanks you guys!!

I'll start playing around and ask my new guild about running some dungeons. There are set times when they organize but I'm usually unavailable. I'll find someone and start using all those dungeon tips I've gotten.
