Feature idea

Sometimes, the game can get to be a bit of a chore - gotta do the writs, gotta do the dailies, gotta do the fishing, whatever.

Why not add a feature when you log in you can pick, that puts your char next to a random quest you haven't yet done? That'd give people a bit of a surprise and change of pace.

And/or, a 'log in to a random place in the game world' option - somewhere to just go explore.

Pretty easy to implement.

I don't see the appeal, personally. Once you get to the point where you're only logging in to do set things on a daily basis then it's become a job not a hobby and it's time to move on. I log in to progress characters who are in the middle of quests and to find they've logged in to something totally different would be a distraction at least, a downright annoyance at most.

Each to his/her own, however, so if enough people want such an option to warrant the developers' time implementing it, then fine.

I was stuck with thinking I needed to do writs on all 15 characters each day and a few other things. Got into that rut when I was using Master Writ vouchers to purchase furniture recipes and then sell those recipes in our guild trader. Thing is I have over 10 million gold and was still doing it. Was getting tedious but was still doing it. Then something went off and I quit doing the writs daily. Maybe they get done on one or two characters and maybe not. I'm having a lot more fun now.

What I like to do when I feel like I am getting in a rut (happened recently when I wanted a certain inferno staff) is port to a random guild mate and just goof off in that zone. I roam around killing things, picking flowers maybe fishing a bit and watch zone chat. If anybody asks for help with something I go. After I help someone be it by killing a world boss or whatever I then go to another zone and do it again. A couple of those and I am good to go again.

One thing I really like to do from time to time is grab 10K tel var stones drop down into the sewers as far as I can from home base then see if I can get back home without losing them.

Basically you don't need the game to pick something random for you. Just do it yourself. Start at the far north of some zone then just head south seeing what kind of trouble you can find. Do something that is just for fun and not because you are chasing some gear/reward.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

No, you wouldn't, because you wouldn't select that option...

No thanks, if I want to do quests I'll do quests. I don't want to be forced to accept them

You can't read, can you? This doesn't force you to do anything.
