Worth Coming Back?

I havent played since nearly a year. Ive not played summerset or murkmire. The eso plus kind of puts me off. But seen summerset for like £12. Was thinkin of getting back into ESO.

You don't have to have ESO Plus to play. It gives some benefits as you are probably aware. Without knowing why you quit in the first place it would be hard to tell you if it is worth coming back or not. The only way you will find out is to come back and try it again. Hopefully you will enjoy it once again.

If you like overworld play, Summerset is one of the best regions in the game. The story and characters are exceeded only by the very best in the game (main quest, maybe Rivenspire, little else). The art is the best in the game, period.

In endgame play, little has changed, at least for the better.

PvPers, I gather, would say the same.

Don't bother with ESO Plus, game is not worth the sub IMO. But come back and play for free for a bit to see if you like what's on offer now.

Folks play this game for many different reasons, and whether or not it makes sense to return depends on what it was you enjoyed about the game.

If you're like me and your main focus is character development, role-play, and questing? The developers consistently deliver excellent new content for that sort of thing, and it's why I continue to support the game. Both Summerset and Murkmire bring a lot to the game in terms of lore, exploration, and storytelling. You don't need ESO+ to enjoy the game at all if you focus on these things.

If you're a competitive gamer who is more into the trials and dungeon scene, or perhaps PvP? I'm not one to speak for a crowd I don't belong to. That said, I've observed that crowd being persnickety every single patch regardless of what changes are (or aren't) made. You'll inevitably find things to whine about and hate that have changed in ways you don't like. From there you either get over it and adapt back to your min-maxing glory, give up on being a competitive gamer, or quit the game (again).

Monetization of the game remains much the same as it was when you left. That is to say, well... it is what it is.

You're nuts. The crafting bag is worth the sub alone. Specially if he doesn't have a lot of time. I use to log in with only a couple hours to play most nights. Most of that would be spent just screwing with my inventory.

Id get the sub for the extra dlc grafting bag wud be a bonus. Ill start playin tomorrow level my character up and get summerset in a couple of days

Don't agree. Played since release, used to sub 6 months at a time until about 14 months ago when the quality of the game dropped off a cliff, didn't renew the sub and have not missed it at all. The game is just too flaky to deserve a sub and if the developer's only way of getting people to sub is by deliberately delivering a crap inventory system (which is the only reason I ever see used to justify the sub), then they certainly don't deserve the sub revenue. If the game performed well, was more reliable and had meaty content drops, I'd gladly pay a sub (as I do for FFXIV) but since ZOS side-stepped their sub content obligations with 'chapters', there's nothing of substance in the sub at all.

For a returning player there's zilch reason to get a sub; the game's not in the best of places right now and he/she may hate it.

ESO is in a pretty bad place right now, full of bugs and horribly unbalanced. Its a shame, I was really enjoying Summerset. I really only log on to do crafting writs. Two months left on plus, if it doesn't improved I will not resub.

I would wait until the next Expansion is announced....Summerset was just cringy.

Im PVE. Never liked PVP.

Summerset is £10 on the store to, worth it if I was to return, but considering I cant log in.. not happening.

That’s a hard question to answer as I do not know you, I don’t know what you like or what makes you tick. At the end of the day it’s a question only YOU can answer and you really need to answer it for yourself, rather than trying to get others to answer that question for you.

For what it’s worth I really enjoy the game. I am a PvEr who wanders around doing my own thing in SLOOOOWWW time. I love the game, but others hate it.

So, my advice is to not get others to make your mind up for you, make a decision for yourself and play it again. You already know what the game was like, so you have a good idea of what to expect. Only you can truly decide if you like it or not.

If I had listened to the advice of many on this forum I would never have purchased the game. But fortunately I allowed myself to make my own mind up and I love the game.

Ok, well was any of this worth opening up a thread to ask something from people who do not know you, nor probably care why you play the game or not.

Only you can answer the question whether you wanna play or not, and if you got launcher issues, or w/e, then repair the game, update addons/drivers etc and try again, have a gaming session then ask yourself if you wanna play again.

But it just seems to me that you have came on forums to ask whether you should come back, then you try a little bit, then as you cannot log in then you just go.

What is the point?.

Ah, I should have read all the posts in this forum before making my earlier reply, as then I would have seen you had tried it again already. Well, actually, no you didn’t, did you? You just failed to log in and so gave up. :-(

You can pay US$15 to do ESO plus for a month, and if you don't like it don't buy the DLC and don't return.
IMO Murkmire is very dense with enemies (there's nearly no place to hide from them exc three villages and two wayshrines) and all the DLC dungeons are known to take significantly longer to complete (3h in some cases), so if you hate tough content you may not like them. However if you wanted more of a challenge then they are for you.

But I consider ESO unplayable without the craft bag that is only acquired though subscription to ESO+.
