Drop rates?

Okay, not for nothing, but the drop rates in this game are horrible, but seemingly only for sets that people actually use. For instance, I've run through City of Ash more than 150 times in the last few months and gotten exactly ONE BSW inferno staff. ONE. In more than 150 runs.

Now I'm sure someone will come along with all the awesome numbers proving how I'm wrong, but it still doesn't change the fact that the drop rates are horrible for useful bits in this game.

You’re not wrong, drop rates are pretty terrible. Tried to get the elusive Soul-Shriven skin once during the event for IC this year- 1. Horrible idea, and 2. didn’t get squat the whole two hours I stayed and helped fight the simulacrum of Molag. I get the double drop rate idea, but it’s still bad when the same person probably gets items three times in a row and some people get absolutely nothing.

I'm frankly not sure how the loot table is organized and whether some sorts of weapons (like 1H) are collated into one weapon type with own probability (and then random chance of each sub-type within it). But if not... CoA drops three sets - Sunderflame, Embershield and BSW. Final boss can drop jewelry (so six possibilities - either ring or necklace of each set) or weapons - so it can be dagger, sword, mace, battle axe, bow... and I think shields are counted in too? So eight stamina weapons, four staves and a shield - makes thirteen, for 39 total possibilities from three sets. Together with jewelry, 45 different options if I didn't make any mistake (which is likely).

Now in a single given run, the probability of not getting inferno is 97.7%. In a hundred and fifty runs, it drops to 3.4%, so if loot table is as described, then you're still an outlier, but not vastly improbable one. It takes 30 runs just to get to 50% probability of getting the inferno, so it must be a pretty rough grind.

    100% agree.

And the thing about Spell Strategist bows, and Battlefield Acrobat restoration staves. The *** using alliance resources for production of those, should be cast into a dungeon filled with "lovesick" trolls... Why make 90% of all drops useless? Make the RFTW (for example) more rare, and actually give us somewhat useful stuff instead. I could bear with having 10 instead of 100 of those, if it just was something remotely useful sometimes.
