Mounts, the Store, and the Stables - A Suggestion

Alright. Time to make a rare post. And I'm hoping it gets noticed but if not at least I tried!

We're now years removed from the first time the crown store opened. In this time we've seen mounts that are on fire. We've seen mounts that are covered in frost and look absolutely awesome. We've got ridiculous mounts where your head is missing, and other mounts that look very alien. We've got lizard mounts soon as well! That is to say, we've got a LOT of mounts. So this is my suggestion @ZOS_GinaBruno and @ZOS_JessicaFolsom and whoever else is listening.

We need more horses available to buy in game.
We also need at least a basic guar available to buy in game.
The brown bear? Make him obtainable in Wrothgar.
Maybe a senche, one of the earliest ones.
And obviously, a camel in Hammerfell.

These should not entirely all be locked behind the crown store. I realize that people buy these things, BUT they're also basic elements of the TES Universe. I'm okay with the variants being in the crown store. It's a good way to get money from the playerbase. So I'm not going to be one of those anti-ZoS complainers. But I am suggesting that there's enough variety that MOST probably have the basics already and the people that don't should be able to earn their way towards getting it. Whether quest reward or a gold sink - it doesn't matter, I'd recommend putting them in. I'm sure this has been discussed before... but it really is an obvious one IMO.

There's no reason for a stable in Wrothgar to sell the same four horses as Daggerfall as Windhelm etc.

Keep the really cool stuff in the crown store, but offer the basic exotics in game! There's enough variety now!

I agree totally. Many of the stables even have a few exotics parked there, so why can't they offer a basic version?

Having basic versions would be nice but exotic types like the frostbane or the wild hunt mounts, yea, we're never seeing those buyable with anything but money. Cosmetics are the biggest sellers in MMOs and for some the lifeblood of them.

Yeah that's why I said the basic exotics - a basic guar, a basic senche etc.

The cool stuff is totally cool being crown related since in theory they should be rare anyway. Even if they aren't rarely seen in game lol

Even if ZOS weren't willing to sell them for gold I'd love it if you still had the option to buy them from a vendor in game. The way I imagine it is when you speak to a stable master as well as the current options there's one called something like "Do you have anything a bit more exotic?" in areas where one of the exotic mounts fits (Hammerfell for the Camel, Wrothgar for the bear etc.) they offer you the opportunity to buy that mount for crowns. In maps which don't have an appropriate exotic mount they could give you info on where to find them.

(Ideally I'd like to see them do this with all kinds of crown store items - tailors selling costumes, furniture merchants offering furnishings, mystics offering crown store soul gems and so on. It would make crown store purchases feel a bit more immersive and less like they're a seperate thing which isn't really part of the world. Of course it should always be a seperate menu and they should make it clear you're spending crowns and not gold, but I'd like the option.)

It's a great idea. Straight up no frills mounts that fit the region. Nice!

    I'm not into collecting mounts...

...but I back this suggestion 100%. It's a great idea.

OMG yes. I know some people would be mad with it as it "flaunts the crown store," but it really would make things more immersive for the setting.

I like it! When I started playing in June, one of the very first things I did was stop by the stablemaster in Vvardenfell, expecting to see how much a guar would cost (once I got any money at all....) and all he had was three VERY expensive horses! Ditto every other stable....

    GREAT idea!

This. For new players, if for nothing else. It expands a new/newer player's options to customize early in game time and rewards visiting zones to see what's there. 'A camel mount in Sentinel/Hew's Bane? Of course there's a camel mount there!'

Good idea. I never purchased those mounts from the store and never will as they are common looking, but I would for sure spend gold on them.

Yup. I always found that to be a really confusing part of the game. Going to DLC zones and seeing Guar or Wolf mounts at stables, but having no way of getting them in-game.

Maybe it could work like housing, unlock a specific achievement and then buy the mount for gold.

    No, we don't.
Its really not something we -need-...

...but want... yeah, oblivion yeah, we want that. And especialyl non-horse mounts!

I mean, when they give away DLCs as "login rewards", they might as well give us the basic non-horse mounts for in.game gold at this point, right?

I mean, not that I care, I already spend my crowns on a lot of stuff, so... but I would not begrudge other people at least the -basic- mounts for gold. Hide them in DLC regions, that way you get crowns anyhow, but let them buy a basic camel in Abah's Landing, a basic nix-ox in Vivec City, a basic bear in Orsinium, a basic wolf in Anvil and a basic guar in Lilmoth... and if they make an elsweyr DLC soon, that would be a good place to sell basic sence mounts, right?

They can make it cost much, 100K gold, which is quite easily earnable for an endgame character, but still takes a bit of saving up depending on how you play... but I agree it should be available. (the nifty versions on the other hand should still stay crown store/crate powered)

And yeah, there should be more in-game horses as well, none of the "extra-special" flaming, chilly or mind-shriven ones, but the older basic recolors... hide one here, another there... let people find out which stable has what special offer!

Umm how about no - spending real money should be less immersive, not more.

Heck I'd support removing crowns entirely (outside of the stipend ones for subbing) and have everything sold in the store priced in real world currency, removing the obfuscation layer crowns add to mask how much one is spending on pixels.

As for more mounts available through in game means - yes please.

They could be simply sold for gold in location appropriate places, given as rewards for completing specific content or achievements, or even as random chance drops (again location appropriate).

That would be great. Make them available if you get a specific achievement for that zone, perhaps?
