At 45, you'll get a quest starter that explains all this, assuming you do the quest.
Giving keys as loot prior to CP160 was not exactly the brightest implementation they could have come up with.
Thank you so much for the help and tips.
I have been playing for a few years. I never recall the game asking me to do undaunted pledges. How do I do that? I am CP 180ish and except for yesterday I usually play this game single player. I tried to do the Undaunted cave in Auridon but never get qued in so I gave up anything Undaunted.
I can do Undaunted quests even if I didn't do the first cave? (sorry keep forgetting the name. the one that is north top of Auridon.)

No, my main is level 50 and 180ish CP. Come to think of it, thank you for the reminder, because of the Vardenfell bug early this morning, I couldn't use that character and I think my character who got the key is level 35. Since I play with my main mostly, can I put the key in the bank and have my main get it?
I don't recall this quest. What is it? Sadly my memory is so bad, I might have done this quest and not even know it was an Undaunted quest. Are these repeatable?

Turuk Redclaws in Vulkhel Guard, Auridon - Begins Banishing the Banished.
Mighty Mordra in Spindleclutch, Glenumbra - Begins Deadly Whispers.
Kailstig the Axe in Davon's Watch, Stonefalls - Begins Kings of the Grotto.
Depending on your main alliance if that matters.
Thank you so much @lnsane . Greatly appreciate it. I will go to Grathwood next time I log in and check it out.

You posted this as I was typing my last post. I never did Banished Cells since I tried the dungeon finder and never got anything to it. I gave up on it and totally forgot about Undaunted till I got the key.
I suggest you wait with using the keys until your character is CP160.
That way the gear you get from the chest is end-level and useful for all your characters & throughout your adventures.
Btw, you don't actually have to do the dungeon, just go in then out (ie: ride there where it is physically), and return to the quest giver.
I just assume that very few people equip full monster sets on levelling characters. Maybe people who PvP in u50 campaigns?
As others have said, for the Undaunted quest that sends you to the first dungeon of your alliance, you just have to manually go into the dungeon and leave again, you don't need to complete it.

Yes, you can put the key in the bank for your higher level character.
As for doing the Undaunted quest, I didn't do the dungeon. I just went in and talked to someone and left and it cleared the quest to the next stage.
My character is level 38. If he gets to level 50 he will become CP 180 then? If so, I will just hold on to the key. Hope to level him up to 50 this week.

Yep, as soon as a character hits level 50, they get all the CP that your account has accumulated. So if you have a CP 180 character, every char you level later will be at 180 CP once they hit 50, and their XP will go towards the common CP pool. You will never ever have a character again who is at CP30.
Also, if you have CP, you can allocate them even on characters that aren't level 50 yet. Simply go to the CP menu on them, the points will be waiting for you, making life considerably easier.
Correction: you cannot bank keys - they are character-bound. You can save them and they stack though, at least from L50 onwards.Hippie4927 wrote: »Yes, you can put the key in the bank for your higher level character.

I respectfully disagree.
The events that award undaunted keys to below level 45 characters are extremely rare.
If you're one of those players that likes a full complement of leveling gear on Alts (including monster shoulders), then you'd want to use keys for those rare shoulder pieces. Especially for a player like me that does Vivec PvP on my level 20 Health Tank.
When you reach CP160, you're pretty much doing dungeons anyway to level up your undaunted or other goals. Keys flow freely at that point.
