Rarity within a Motif

Does anyone know if the pages of a motif all drop with equal chance or if some can be rarer than others?

I'm trying to work out whether or not RNG is just having fun trolling me or its something to be aware of.

Been doing heists every day for a few months now and not seen the shoulders page once.

We don't know. And it would take quite the massive effort to collect enough data to have viable statistics on drop rates for something like this.

For what it's worth if motifs did have different rarities I'd expect smaller pieces like the shoulders and waist to be more common and bigger pieces like the chest and legs to be rarer, since they're the ones I imagine people are more likely to want.

Although...if their goal was to try to maintain a roughly equal market value for all pieces of a motif then actually it would make sense to make less desirable pieces rarer for the same reason.

So I'm right back to "only ZOS knows and they're not telling".

Probably just on a rotation. Either in order or once one drops it will not drop again until the others have dropped. I have had some luck doing them at a different time of day and getting different chapters.

It’s all RNG ... though there are few rare cases where motif page drops (within the motif) vary due to the location of the drop itself:

1. Via the recent Witches Festival Event, we just experienced that the Dremora pages for Chest, Swords, Bows, and Legs are scarce ... due to players not wanting to run the content for drops. If you held onto your Dremora Bows motifs on PC NA, you’ll be able to cash in nicely on those in 6-9 months.

2. Two other examples are drops for Assassin’s League and Outlaw pages. Page drops on the World Bosses in those zones are much more common. Players tend to run the World Boss quests versus the Delve Bosses ... the Delve Bosses being a little more difficult to access.

I assume chance is equal, however most are after body, then legs so other pieces if cool.
Lots are after look rather than filling the collection.

I'd say equal, but when you are on 12/14, remaining two pages have zero chance to drop =D

"Chance" is making the assumption that it really is random. The game knows what you need, and will keep it from you, while taunting you with duplicates.

Just going to have to go with bad luck, at least I'm guaranteed a page each day.

Dark brotherhood on the other hand with only a chance of getting a page is probably going to be much suckier to complete.

Sets are different, but I know that for a zone-specific set, it's this:
Delve bosses have chance at belt or boots from a set of the zone they're in, e.g. Hatchlings Shell while in Shadowfen.
World bosses drop head, chest, legs, or weapon set piece from a zone set.
Public dungeon bosses could drop shoulder, glove or weapon from a zone set.
Dark Anchor chests drop jewelry from their zone sets.

Other sets are going to be from rewards, others will be specific to dungeons and so on.
But that site can help you determine where you need to focus to find the piece/set you want.

No problem with sets thanks, its just after maybe 70 or 80 days straight of getting a thieves guild page from the heist I realised that the shoulders have never dropped for me.

rng is trolling u and dropchances r abysmal:

u have a general chance of 1/14 (7,14%) to drop any specific page
if u have 13 pages, your chance of dropping a page u already know is at 13/14 or 92,86%.

From my experience, grinding out a full motifbook, usually motif 1 to 6 take one <timeframe>, 7 to 10 take another 2 <timeframes>, 11 to 13 around 4 additional <timeframes> and the last one 8. where <timeframe> can be "hour", "day", "week" or month, depending on how often u can repeat rolling the dice per day and how many layers of rng r involved.

if your pride allowes it, selling the dupes from grinding up to 10/14 nets u around 4 times the money u need to buy the missing ones on average and can save u from month of mindless grinding. otoh, grinding out yourself and selling all of the dupes grants u riches beyond good and evil. u might find yourself sitting on a mountain of gold, with no idea what to do with it and a minor burnout tho.

Dungeon motifs are the rarest

The pc crowd could figure out the drop rates for just about everything.

One of them made that add on that tracked and collared crown crates. https://www.crowncrates.com

It took me about 46 completions of vScale to farm up that whole motif.
