As usual I was thinking of ways to make my magden more fun to play if I was running the show. Most of my combat abilities are kinda meh either due to animation delays, or just worthless as well as too much buffing... Anyway as I was thinking of his I was reminiscing about past classes I have played in other MMORPGs and what made me hang in there playing them for many years. I also began thinking about classes I should have played but ddin't either because of lack of time, character slots, or other reason. Come up with a short list of these are your reasoning of why or why you didn't play them. My list is the follow:
Favorite MMO classes
1. My favorite WoW Druid- I love this class so much! Being able to shapeshift into animals for some tankiness, dps, or utility as well as being able to use Hots for healing was pure fun. After playing this class (and of course some old school D&D) I've been trying to voice my opinion on having ESOs werewolf work off mag and stamina. At least then my magden could shapechange.
2. Daoc Druid- I really like this version of a druid class. I had heals, a choice of pets (which grew as you put points into them), CC in grappling vines type spell, HOT healing style.
3. Warhammer- Warrior Priest- Any class that I can heal my friends and still be in melee range fighting with a big hammer is a win. I remember beating down keep doors during keep takes and my healing was able to keep the majority of us up even during hot oil and death from above. I actually felt I was making a difference on the front lines.
4. Age of Conan-Bear Shaman- I liked this one even better than my warrior priest because it was a mix of that class and a druid feel. Pure awesomeness!
5. Lotro Loremaster- After playing my captain and dwarven guardian for quite a while I made my loremaster and there was no turning back. It some really cool looking spells, cool pets such as hawks/eagles and others. It had good CC too which is one of things I really enjoy when playing especially in a group setting. I normally play support and being able to lock up mobs while we are tackling others is fun to me.
6. COH/COV Storm Hero- my controller had a ton of cc and it was just fun using hurricane to knock back bad guys from our squishier teammates.
7. GW2 Mesmer- Illusionary abilities are so cool. Such a unique class!
Classes I wished I had played
1. Daoc Animist- I really really wished I would have tried out one of these guys. Such an original class that could lay down fields of plants/shrooms that could poison, stun, disrupt large areas. A friend of mine played one a bit and I was always jealous but leveling was slow in that game so I had to pick where to spend my time.
2. Daoc Valewalker- Another nature themed robe wearer but was a melee fighter with a scythe that had great animations IMO. It just looked cool.
3. Daoc Friar- Who can resist beating down foes with a staff and being able to do some light heals and buffs to boot. I had one of these but never got a chance to play him much. Another class with great combat animations. Watching and hearing your character parry and evade attacks made it that much more fun. Of course in Daoc we had reactionary attacks so being able to hear and see those animations were key to pulling off some cool counterattacks.
4. Warhammer Runepriest- The dwarven caster who through down runes to combat foes. A friend of mine played one and it always looked fun.
5. Lotro Beorning- This shapeshifter came way too late for me to try going back to check out.
Class I wish I hadn't spent so much time on
Daoc Blademaster- I spent a lot of time in the first two years trying to make my BM work. Sure he was fun to play since his animations were cool while fighting but as a DPS class he was at the bottom of the barrell and then some. His special ability which was only up like every 15-20 minutes was triple wiled where this green magical dancing sword sprung up in front of your character and fought with you (just added dmg). Sad thing was, amongst my nighty pvp group it was always the big joke when I fired up triple wield. My party members would be like oh damn he almost had enough damage to kill someone..so sad lol.I'm just hard headed and wanted to make it work. I heard years after I left they made triple wield and the BM actually decent. Go figure..
So what were yours?
