That my build is good. Some say Galanwe is TRASH, some say its good, and I don't have access to get the MOL set

The gear you’re looking at is fine. Tanking well is less dependent on what gear you run and more on how you perform the duties of the role, e.g., taunting, surviving, positioning, buffing, and debuffing.

In dungeons galenwe is fine, your gear is pretty optimal. As said it's about how you perform the role.

This event is available on normal group finder, you can tank it naked pretty much!!

Yeah just remember that if you want people to think, “that’s a great tank,” then you are wanting to stack mobs and hold them still. The sets you are using are fine.

In 4 man content Aegis of Galenwe is among the strongest support sets a tank can run. EVERYONE can benefit from Empower.

If you drop in on a PUG with restricted characters (3 NB's for example) then certain other popular support sets go right out of the window for usefulness.

On a Warden tank that setup will grant you a high health too which assists in healer support thanks to polar winds.

On a DK tank the high health assists in damage mitigation.

So you help support the DPS and support the healer.

You could wear light armor and tank normal dungeons. So if you don't really care about this character that set is plenty fine.

That being said, while galenwe may not be the worst tank set, it is lacking. I would recommend replacing it with Torugs pact with infused crusher glyph on front and weakening on back bar. Ebon is fine but I find it very overrated in dungeons so I would recommend using Akaviri Dragonguard over it or even powerful assault if you have access to weapons/jewelery.

Again your build is fine for normals and vets (you can tank in a lot of stuff) just could be optimized better.

    Rule of thumb:

Veteran Hardmode 12 Player Trials - Worry about your gear. Worry about your Rotation. Worry about your Class. Worry about your Character Race. Worry about your Champ Points. Worry about everything.

Everything Else - Use One Hand Shield on at least one bar and be able to taunt and know when to block. Have enough health to survive the bosses worst attack. Dont worry about anything else.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

umm, as long as its heavy armor it really doesnt matter what sets you use to tank a normal dungeon...use white garbage you pick up in the dungeon itself. Your job as a tank as simply to control the battlefield and keep dangerous enemies taunted...in a normal dungeon I wouldnt even bother farming any gear at all unless you plan on tanking beyond the event...use whatever heavy armor you want, enchant as needed for health, stam, or magicka....tanking isnt bout gear...its about exerting control...skills such as chains, talons, time stop, taunts, and whatever buffs you can apply to the group.

For nRandoms, you could roll armor of the trainee and be fine. Most of the normal dungeons are doable without endgame gear as long as your party has decent dps and you aren't having to hold everything still for extended periods of time.

Gear good, next step buff your party:

*Chains and Talons to stack mobs and kill them faster.
*Throw some shields to your party. It gives you stamina when you use it.
*PVP horn ultimate if you have it.

Notice that you need some magicka for all that.

you dont need much magicka for that...I get by with maybe 12k. I just ramp up my magicka regen. But still overkill for a normal dungeon anyway, you can also get by with less regen if you are willing to back bar an ice staff and learn how and when to use it for the magicka return on the heavy attack taunt.

    This.

That said, if all you are doing is running normal, base game dungeons, I would actually advise AGAINST that gear set up. Ebon is pretty pointless in general outside of min-max trial teams, and I suspect that other set is too. Go with something that gives you just enough survivability, and then throw on a dps set and a monster set that deals damage too. When you get random players thrown in with you that have pretty bad dps, you will thank yourself. When I run my main tank through randoms and the dps is bad, it's painful. Spare yourself that.

I susepct Nestor sums it up nicely. Relative newbie here but just fyi OP ...

Also getting ready for the event so tried a nrandom yesterday for practice with my lvl 20 PVE Argonian DK tank (has ~CP190 allocated due to my main which hasn't done any dungeons). Used my crafted Torugs, Fort Brass, Night's Silence with S&B (mostly Blue with Training trait to help lvl). Got slightly lucky as a ~CP480 did most of the killing but i practised taunting etc to keep the mobs/bosses on me. Nobody came close to dying. Was easy tbh and I didn't even use food though I have ~33K health, ~27K sresist & ~25K presist (hope thats reasonable for my lvl/gear). Based on Alcast "Catalyst" guide and kudos to him for all his helpful guides.

Always want to improve so suggestions welcome.

    Cheers and g/l.

just take your dd build and slot inner rage, and queue for norm random

eg, stam sorc just need surge+hurricane to out heal the damage.
stamplar repentance can heal a lot since things die fast.
for norm you dont need much effort to taunt boss and stay alive. almost all mechanics are survivable as long as you keep at full health.
