    The service, in general, needs to stay. Last year ESO was DDOSed by some temperamental kid after their account got banned, and it will happen again, without that. However, Akamai really needs to fix their ****, because latency is through the roof lately.

    It's not unplayable for me, but it is unpleasantly high. So, something does need to be done. Unfortunately, that needs to come from ZOS, Akamai will just ignore our complaints.

    Akamai is an anti-DDOS service, who screen incoming network data.

    Unfortunately, something in their system seems to have bjorked up recently, as their network is now creating a ton of latency, possibly because of some new bottleneck in their systems.

    I honestly don't think Akamai is the problem here... it's something that have changed on ZOS code base, either on cient side or server side, as in the past as long as I remember, it used to be able to handle retries and hiccups gracefully and could recover from them (I used to have a really 'shifty' internet ~2 years ago) but now, it doesn't even retry once, it seems.

    A system intended to reduce ddos attacks is instead adding constant lag and latency all the time? I'd say if that's the case, something needs to be done as the solution to a problem is then only creating more problems.

    Because when you do a tracert to any of the ZOS servers, you always hit Akamai (Their anti-DDoS routers to be exact) ...

    Something has been very wrong with lag, delays, jitter, and abilities not firing. It feels like DDoS lite right now.

    I don't know if Akamai is to blame, but there is a real problem with gameplay and QoL
