Hey everyone! I'm considering buying a house at the midrange price point and I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for so I'm thinking if people could give me what they think is the best and why they think so that'd be super helpful! Thanks!

best is pretty subjective, but I can give you some favorites. medium houses are possibly your best bet, as they are relatively inexpensive, have decent furnishing limits for the size and require no achievements to buy. (I'm talking gold prices here btw, if you are going with crowns, large homes IMO are a better deal for a buck)

personal fave is Velothi reverie, the layout of the house is fantastic, it has 2 floors and a basement, actual separate rooms and while the garden is on a smaller size, its still quite lovely.

Ravenhurst is cheaper the Velothi and has larger garden but I don't like its base layout as much as Velothi reverie - but you can still make extra rooms in it, by adding floors to the alcoves on a second floor

I.. think.. you can buy small and medium imperial homes now without having imperial edition? not certain. but if you can - both houses have.. ok layout, but their garden areas are absolutely brilliant

Ald Velothi Harbor house is also nice, a little odd, but certainly interesting and its layout is fairly decent.

now - those are particular favorites of mine in medium home size range. they may not be your favorites.

^^^ I concur with her first recommendation.

The Velothi Reverie is a great medium sized house for the money, and the three-level layout allows for a great separation of living and work spaces. Nice alcove in the basement and the garden/courtyard is ample for an outdoor bbq!

Awesome thanks so much! This is really helpful, I'm going to go check out the Velothi Reverie :)

I also have some crowns to spend as well, what would be your opinions on large houses you can buy from the crown store? -

Personally I'm partial to Mistveil Manor in the Rift. I love the style, has a great crafting spot outside, and a simple 2 story layout that is easy to decorate.

Also it's super close to Riften so you are seconds away from a wayshrine, crafting dailies, etc.

Medium orc house is very popular for it's size and design.

Next house on my list in medium bosmer cause I want a full forest.

Medium witch house is a great value and Feels full.

Really depends what you are looking for I hang out in humblemud the most these days cause location. My personal house is large bosmer because I don't need a lot of indoor space but outdoors is my own garden. Still have a lot of houses to.live out my fantasies. Here is a list to inspire you.

    - Grand Library (psjiic)
    - Own private island away from people ( hideaway)
    - Zoo ( medium argonian)
    - flower house ( small argonian)
    - forest (haunted, normal, fun)
    - palace fit for a queen (Dawnlight)
    - Workshop or is a hospital idk
    - Guild house on the port with pet slaughterfish.
    - Crystal cave for pet fish ( small dark elf)
    - rest stop ( small inn) ( small bosmer)

Cliffshade is a medium house in Greenshade, just outside Marbruk.

    Taken from https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Cliffshade
The entry hall has a fireplace. From the entry hall there is a small room located to the left and stairs to the right leading to the second floor. The second floor is the same size as the entry hall; it has a fireplace and interior balconies.

I love this house, whilst there is no outside area you can get to the thieves guild very quickly without the hassle of guards.

Although if you like outdoor space and a convenient thieves guild then Sleek creek should be on your watch list.

My advice would be to focus on the same thing as with any real estate - location, location, location. With that in mind, take a look at Snugpod in Elden Root and Sleek Creek in Raw'lka (sp?). Both have good access to everything.

of all the large houses we have in game and available right now - Houndings palatial Hall is my absolute favorite. you get amazing outdoors with ocean view and a pretty nicely size house to go with it.

although Alinor town house is a close second, in part because I love that it actualy has unbroken floors and clean walls and in part becasue it also has a fairly nice layout.

but to be fair... the only large homes I'm kinda meh on is a bosmer and Argonian ones so other then above that are particular faves - pretty much like them all for different purposes.

the prices on homes in the same category are fairly close. there are minor deviations but.. they are fairly minor. so I would personaly figure out which racial style appeals to me the most and then visit homes in that racial style

P.S. main reason I didn't bring up witches cottage as a possible medium house is becasue you cannot buy it right now. its only available during witches festival. (also why i didn't bring up Telvani tower as large home option) and I constantly forget about Sleek creek, because even though its location is fabulous, I'm just... not the biggest fan of how small it is while being one of the more expensive medium homes. still decorating it, cause it fits one of my characters (and i would honestly recommend it above Cliffhsade if easy acess to thieves refuge is one of considerations - since Rawl'ka in general has more compact layout then Marbrook IMO)

Personal favorite is domus phrasticus in craglorn, but I think it requires imperial edition. Though the house is pretty small the garden is really cool.

I completed my first house purchase recently. I was going medium but finished choosing small. You may have already but take the time to tour all houses (through the map) but I also toured the area of each house to get a better feel of it's location/amenities. It took time to my make my decision as no house met all my needs. In the end I went with the Jungle House (small). The reasons were:-
    • The money saved meant I could buy crafting stations. I spent crowns on banker and merchant. I feel self contained.
    • My main character is not stamina based so touring some of the houses felt arduous. Jungle house feels like it has a reasonably sized court yard. Plenty of room for crafting stations and assistants.
    • It was close to wayshire and merchants (ESO merchant assistant does not repair equipment), and stables not too far away. Town does not have a Bank but I use an Alt (that I never play because I forgot to change their voice) that I have parked in one to access Guild store etc.
    • I liked the look of it.
    • I wasnt sure whether I would like using the housing editor so thought would try out something small first. Limit is 100 items (200 with ESO) but think I can use the 100 limit effectively if I stop ESO.
    • Wasnt in DC area and not sure which faction lays claim to Malabal Tor so I set up Alts in the 2 other factions to justify purchase

The only thing I had to let go of was water/waterfall. Love the ocean at Hundings but had to pack a lunch to get there, and Serenity's waterfall was awesome but $$$$. Instead, my next goal for Jungle House is to install a waterfall (going to be $$$ but in time).

    Good luck with your search.

My advice is to think about what's most important to you and pick based on that. Do you want to be near a town? A wayshrine? A thieves den? Do you want outside space? Seperate rooms? A specific style? Does it matter to you where in the world it is?

Then take your time looking at the houses and see which one suits you best.

Be prepared to compromise because it's highly unlikely you'll get everything you want in one house. But also keep an open mind - I started out 100% sure I wanted a breton style house and hadn't even thought about outside space and I ended up picking the medium orc house (Mournoth Keep) because I loved the garden.

I as well, tons of outdoor space, spacious interior, multiple entrances, multiple floors, right next to a way shrine, plus I love the view of the sunken ship.

I previewed the Snow Globe House today. It's marvelous! Not too big to decorate, not too small to seem cramped. Enough outside space, including balcony, back garden, and lighthouse tower.... and the miniaturization thing is just so cool.

I'm buying it. I don't even care how much it's going to cost.

What do you mean by mid range? And are you talking gold or crowns... I know if you want a decent house thats cheap the riften one for about 60k gold is nice and one of the only smaller ones with a yard.

If you mean mid range like classic homes then my personal favorite (and favorite house in the entire game) is the amaya lake lodge in vvardenfell. I think** its about 1mil gold. Its pretty big and has 4 floors and a good amount of rooms. It packs a lot into a classic home.

Also the snowglobe house is coming out during the new life festival. I dont know how much its going to cost (or if it will be available for gold) but i checked it out on the PTS and thought it was epic.. It will definitely be a classic home so it shouldn't be ridiculously expensive. Im guessing it will be under 500k, or at least i hope. It has a lot for a little house.

My biggest issue with the homes that arent notable homes is the fact that you are so limited with undaunted busts, mounts, etc... I can understand thee player count. I can even understand the furnishings (kind of). But you should be able to put all your trophy's in a house like the amaya lake lodge.. Hope they change it some day.

My favourite house in ESO. Good size IMO, looks nice, great location and always ends up fitting into every character's rp I do, no matter their race. Plus it's across from a popular farming dolmen.

Although I like having the places in Elden Root, Daggerfall and Mournhold 'cos I'm too cheap to spend 146 gold and they are free fast travel to my characters crafting cities.
