I don’t think you need to worry about it shutting down on console, it probably is looking at expanding to Nintendo switch platform even

Dcuo started on ps3 then just switched over to ps4 when it came out then later on only made dcuo accessable on ps4 i suspect eso will do the same when ps5 is relesed eso will switch over to ps5 and as far as the player base dying on console if that ever happens servers could be merged together ps4 with pc or xbox with dcuo does it

Yes, note that its very unlikely that PS5 will not be backward compatible with PS4.
In short it will be an more powerful machine than the PS4 pro, likely with more ram and some other features.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

But lets say Sony screw up and as happened this gen, with the xbox to PS exodus, a lot of people transfer over to the other console? Even if both companies nail their reveals, a good number of people will still swap over to the competition.

Using myself as an example, I have no brand loyalty. I merely go with the brand that offer what I think will be the best value for me. No way I'd re buy all those cash sinks or even restart all over again on a 5+ year old game. They'd have to offer me the choice of being able to move my account over to another console manufacturer if I did decide to return to xbox. Waaaaaaaay too much cash and time has been spent for me to do it all over again.

PS4 - PS5 account transfers are fine for those who stick with the same brand, but many, many people don't have brand loyalty.

Isn't the console versions stored on the Zenimax servers not Sony or Microsoft, but I guess they'll probably make you buy the game again just to play on your account lol

Actually consoles will be around long after PC is ancient history because the industry trend at the consumer level is dedicated device boxes, tablets and smart phones. This is because of the evolution of System on a Chip technology.
Even what will replace a PC will be more like a console with everything on one board.

Unless they make Cyberpunk 2077 playable on PS5, guess many will change over to PC to enjoy that game. It sure beats Fallout 76 for me already from the way it looks now, while still being worked on.

I mean, to add insult to injury I guess they could give you a complimentary Chinese bootleg copy of the Warcraft movie?

No but seriously your entire account is a sunk cost and there's really no path to demand that ZOS make accommodations to continue playing - other platform, legacy server, or otherwise. But we'll probably all be in the same situation as you are at that point so the mead and tears will both be flowing steadily.

I doubt it will happen for quite a while, but it really does help if you make peace with the fact that it will happen eventually. Kick the passive dread to the curb and enjoy what you can while you can.

It's tempting to address the OP's schadenfreude at the possibility that PS players might be kicked from the game. But I won't.

A while back, Zenimax stated that roughly one third of the player base plays on Playstation. Sorry I can't find a link.

I'll bet both of these statements are true:

    1) Zenimax will not abandon Playstation. Nor would they abandon Xbox when Microsoft launches the next gen console.

    2) A supermajority of Playstation players will not purchase a $3,000 specialty device solely to continue playing a game they've been accustomed to playing on their $300 household entertainment system.

I didn't say that, but PC will go away how many PC manufactures are even left?

I didn't say that, but PC will go away how many PC manufactures are even left?

Retailers are always going to prefer basic electronics models that aren't easy to upgrade. Reselling the entire package is just a more enticing strategy than offering replacement parts, even if evidence exists that the replacements are overall more profitable. With more choices and options, there's a downward costs spiral of training employees, researching compatible upsell opportunities, managing warranties, and so on. With a boxed product, you point at it and you sell it.

So I totally understand the console attractiveness. Sony has its own tidy product catalog and Microsoft has its own tidy product catalog.

But you can do a lot of fun things with a personal desktop, and you usually only need a small installation guide to put everything together. And if a company like Tiger Direct can bounce back from its initial Systemax shuttering and continue to sell components on both a retail and a business end, I don't feel the PC is heading for the threatened species list any time soon.

I love the game even though I didn't like Fallout 4 and I am a huge Fallout fan. There are things they need to fix for sure but all in all it is a Fallout game without all the crappy fetch quests.

Sadly they said they can't in an interview due to the size of the game and how switch stores the game data.
