Ice mages are destroying the FUN in BGs - Snared and immobilized constantly

Why on earth has ZoS continued to make snares and immobilize exist out side of normal CC immunity?

I just played a Chaosball vs an icemage. I was playing support/heal templar. Just running through the ice field i had to SPAM cleanse just to even be able to move at the full snare value of the field due to constant immobilization and instant application of the snare...

The mage was running away completely focused on another player yet one ability took me completely out of the fight and ran my resources dry trying to deal with.

This needs to be fixed and needs to be a TOP priority for ZoS because this player base has meta cancer and I promise we will be seeing a TON more ice mage builds in the next few weeks. Its massively over performing..

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom and any other @zos that anyone may think will get these guys to WAKE UP!

    I see all these Magicka toons flinging their fire sticks around and I’m like “weird flex, but ok.”

    Ice is better for the group.

    I say that as a stam sorc who hates fighting ice staves.

    Immobilize is the only viable cc a warden has so until that changes get used to being perma immobilized. Sorry bout dat :D

    Edit: I do think it should have a longer cc immunity after roll dodge, but it should not share the same cc immunity cooldown as a hard cc.

    I do.. I sub out my shield when it makes sense to use it.. It hasnt made sense yet because i mostly play deathmatch.

    Learn to play against it. Control based builds are and should be just as viable and strong as gotta go fast builds. And you spamming cleanse whilst stood in it is lulsy. Roll to the side, move away then cleanse.

    Though IMO the entire speed/snare thing needs balancing in relation to eachother.

    I think is not destroying pvp since you can notice that you are being slow and freezed so you have time to decide your next move.
    And it’s good to see that frost skill have more usage in pve or pvp.

    Been calling it since last patch. Teams with ice wardens were impossible to play against. Now people are finally catching up and realizing mag wardens are actually ridiculously strong...

    I wonder if I understand all this (as a PvE player). The things in PvE that can really kill me are immune to CC. The things in PvP that can really kill me can be CC'd with ease. Yet someone (ahem, lookin' at you ZOS) continues to cling to the futile concept that balancing PvE and PvP together is a good thing? Do I have that right?

    If you have a problem with ice then you have a lot bigger problems in this game. They are annoyance at most.

    I wound up accidently making an ice build on my leveling nightblade for BGs. It was effective at land grab, as long as I didnt mind not getting many kills. Which was fine, since all I wanted was the daily random battleground exp...

    Game needs a root cooldown and make it so snares have a minor and major. Completely baffles me why they still allow root spamming and snare stacking. Shows how little zos knows about their game

    Simple solution, bring the Immobilization immunity from roll dodging up to 7 seconds, and change it's mechanics to work identically to break free. You can't preemptively grant yourself immunity, only upon "breaking" an immobilization with roll dodge will you get the immunity.

    This would keep ice viable in PVP, without being able to perma-CC people.

    Snares are annoying, no doubt. But they always are in PvP. For some reason developers think making you unable to move in PvP enriches the game play. Don't ask me why.

    But there is so much wrong with this game's PvP right now it would be hard to list them all.

    Ice was always strong in BGs. Ice is actually the best staff for pvp since the changes to make block cost magicka, at least in my opinion.

    As for OP claim about ice mages being all over the place, I doubt it. Well maybe so if sorcs and DKs start realizing just how good it is in PvP.

    Because without snares and roots kiting would be impossible. Because of old speed pots meta surprisingly many builds these days doesn't use gap closers to not waste precious skill slot. It's not that roots and snares became any stronger, just people refuse to sacrifice their other skills to counter them.
    I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

    IN my experience, snares and roots are used so gangs of players can more easily outnumber and overwhelm lone players while they are unable to move. So all they effectively do in my opinion is assist zerging - which is the bane of interesting PvP. So I think the gameplay would be a lot better off without them.

    Agree 100%. You literally have people in zergs dedicated to tank and snare.
