and sad about it..

i thought it would be a while until i made a thread like this but i’m finally done with being in denial about my boredom with the game

i log on my main who i’ve achieved so much on and have no idea what i feel like doing in game. i’ve lived in cyrodiil for months before, played 1000s of bgs (on various chars and builds (mainly below 50) and 100s on my main over 50), done plenty of endgame pve (minus a few trials on vet) and done vma enough times.

i main a magsorc and one of my main goals was to get flawless conqueror, and i kept trying and trying and each time i got better, but ever since the murkmire patch i haven’t even attempted it.. i know i should see what it’s like for me but i’m certain it’ll have put me a step back making it more difficult so what kind of motivation is that?

i love this game for so many reasons but i’m truly burnt out.. partly my fault for playing so much in the last year but i also feel like it’s quite repetitive .. especially the events

the events are just replaying the same content you’ve done before when the zone first came out..

a couple of suggestions:
1. a new actual big zone with slightly increased pve difficulty would be super nice.. maybe another craglorn, or another wrothgar just in terms of zone size.

2. one of my biggest wishes is some kind of 2 man pve arena, or 2 v 2 pvp arena type of thing, something completely new. bgs was one of the best and most fun additions to the game (when the queue actually works 😭) but i doubt it’ll happen.

is anyone else feeling the same at the moment?

Been playing since beta one, and I have tons still to do, the Caveat is there are many thing in the game that interest me, and I know most folks like one or two aspects of the game.

It's cold, (frozen)rainy and sometimes snowy where I live and dark most of the time. So for me it's typically ESO, some other game, watching/reading something, posting on the forums, housework or laying in bed/sleeping.

Edit: This is ofcourse only during the late fall and winter months.

dont hate the player...hate the game! woot! hahahahaha

im bored too...if only the game could shift in a way that didn't alienate so many and still be a huge change!

remove zone loading screen boundries...add world pvp...turn cyrodill into a huge openworld pve/pvp hybrid and yeah things might get real.

Sounds like you get your jollies from combat, which really is only one part of a RPG or MMO. Reroll, try a diff playstyle, or find a new game IMO.

    Agree.

Everyone hits burnout at some point or another. The best way I've found to combat it is to take short breaks on another game. Play a single player RPG, or an ARPG, or something else you enjoy.

Do that for a few days to a week, then come back and see how you feel.

Have you tried a lower dps, higher survivability setup for your flawless run? Resto staff backbar, two shields to stack, lightning cloak, that kind of stuff? You won't be able to burn bosses but as long as you follow the mechanics you can take a beating and survive.

I've been there, I left ESO and played some other games for a bit until the itch came back. Have you tried using unusual, off-meta characters/builds? Like a magicka/stamina hybrid, ice only mage, no cp challenges, soloing dungeons meant for 4? How about fishing, crafting, playing a merchant, collecting motifs, making your house pretty?

If nothing's keeping you interested, take a break, it'll come back to you. Best of luck

thanks for the suggestions mate, really appreciate it. I haven't tried a lower dps/higher survivability build in vma actually. I did consider it especially after the murkmire update. If anything that's the next thing I'll try in game. I'll try one more time with my destro/destro setup and if it's too different i'll give that a go

Haven't really tried unusual builds, I've tried several different builds and classes for pvp which all seem to 'work' because they're pretty meta so i could mix it up a bit. I'm just feeling so unmotivated with the grind for bis gear and all. I'm going to take a 1/2 week break playing different games then come back and see how i feel.

I was told in another thread that Murkmire is filled with a ton of amazing plants that you can go stare at for at least 2-3 months of game time.

I don't know I guess some folks have low expectations for DLC.

lol, they nailed the atmosphere/surroundings with murkmire but the zone is still really small in all honesty and it's not many hours of gameplay until it's boring again. but the fact that i probably need a break from the game in general doesn't help :/

Boredom in an MMORPG has more to do with whom one plays with.

3.5k hours in 18 months was overkill on my part though. definitely not the people i play with, have plenty of fun when playing other games with them. anyone can get burnt out at some point (when playing one game that much), just wanted to vent and say what would make eso more exciting for me again.

if anything, the people i met in the game is the main reason eso is so dear to me

I’ve been on break from eso for about two weeks now. I’ll never really quit but taking a much needed break and playing other games right now. Hopefully this winter I’ll get the itch to get back into it but with the game being so massive, all the content and with everything to do I still feel like there’s nothing to do anymore.

A new zone with a higher PvE difficulty would be nice. The game's questing/exploration has gotten too easy for higher level characters.

Well I have all classes, all types and I'm getting bored to, mainly because of ZOS lack of communication about bugs launched with Murkmire, it takes away all fun, and even more, it makes me really scared about future updates, what will they need into the ground? What vision will they have in next few months? What will they break and how long will it take for them to fix it? Month? Years? I'm just really disappointed after Murkmire :/
I am doing my best, but I am not a native speaker, sorry.

I suppose that one -could- be done...

I mean, there are various oblision planes around where this could happen, yes?

I especially would like to see a "Conquest of Battlespire" PvP-ish dungeon crawl "region" where you get to conquer level upon level to move upwards (per alliance, so there could be "campaigns" where DC is at level 3, AD at 4 and EP at 6 for example), fight the NPC mobs (with a steadily increasing difficulty in opponents the higher you go, starting at "overland" levels at the bottom and coung over public dungeon to dungeon to trial encounters at the upper reaches), solve numerous puzzles and such and occasionally also battle your PC enemies (which should be "yellow", so attackable but not neccessarily hostile) to beat them to some prize... (but without the gankage-for-TV of IC)

What I would like to see are -three- new PvP regions, like... instead of "three-alliance war" in cyrodil, they would be "Two alliance and -active- NPC" regions, like, say, Colovia (AD and DC and NPC-imperials), Nibenay basin (AD and EP and NPC imperials) and maybe Falkreath hold (DC and EL and NPC-imperials).
Like mentioned, these regions would have only two alliance warbases, but instead -active- NPC forces, as in not stationary, waiting-for-PC-to-come-to-aggro, but randomly patrrolling and actively attacking (including siege warfare) NPCs of "Imperial city" power levels...

What I would like is those "2 man Battleground arenas" and also some less combat-oriented "PvP" options. Like... foot races, swimming competitions, horse races, just run/swim/ride in some circuit with or without random obstacles, and be the first to make it through the goal after a few rounds; or PvP-enabled labyrinths where you may or may not encounter the other contestants at all as you make your way through the twisting pathways, puzzles and NPC mobs, or "barrom brawls" where your weapons and armor are inaccessible, or dancing competitions, or "hide and seek" challenges, or many, many other minigames that people can play against player friends and foes... without the "deadly seriousness" of straight-up PvP

...or "Special Rule" battlegrounds, like where the usual BG fight suddenly has a special random rule that affects every combatant, like "fog" limiting visibility and thus disadvantaging ranged characters, or "mud" making gap closers unusable and thus disadvantaging melee characters, or "desert heat" reducing all resource recovery, or "freezing cold" doing constant damage to -everyone- or "rain" breaking stealth for all or "daedric curse" preventing any healing from working, etc. Stuff that -changes- the usual way of combat and forces people to adapt on the fly as it may suddenly render their usual "meta" ineffective... but on a random selection so people cannot prepare in advance to the exact way and overspecialize...

The solution is simple...take a break from the game for awhile and come back from time to time. I am currently not playing(I did log on a week ago for a random vet DLC dungeon pug though, and either I ran into a good pug or the random pug groups in general have just gotten much better...it was vBF and aside from dying once to some minotaur chains that werent interrupted it was a breeze). I really dont intend to play consistently for awhile more either. I will probably let the next chapter come along before coming back, let the next round of nerfs take effect. Maybe eventually the game will be so badly nerfed it will be challenging again.
