Maintenance for the week of December 22:
• NA megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)

Enough, is already time to let Steam players use the normal client

It's not possible if you bought ESO through Steam and after november 2016, since you don't have a ZOS account name and password, so you can't log in through the ZOS launcher.

Your user name in the game is your account name, it is required to have one to play on any version. Also ZOS servers require a password from all versions. so incorrect again.

If you have a "new" account through Steam, you don't have to type in any user name or password to get into the game. Your Steam credentials get you through the login system. If you try to log in through the ESO Launcher, you will get an error until you go back to the Steam client.

My biggest regret is buying the game through steam.

This is understandable and a should be a lesson to all. If you can avoid using Steam to play the game you want to then do.

In this case it does not make sense on any level to go through a third party for everything when it is completely unnecessary. Clearly it is just asking for added trouble and not no way of know who is responsible.

Well, if you can't play ESO via Steam and all the other games work just fine, then maybe don't fork out extra money for another license and find something else to play.
