Shields Are Alright With 30K Health.

Well, now I’ve talked to some friends that play magic toons and the consensus is you need to have 30k health now.

I barely play magic toons so don’t really care a lot, but this is lame af. My MagWarden That had 16 or 17k shields, now has a 7K shield and you broke the bear. Not that I used it or anything, but still.

My tank has little more than 30K health.

The changes made by this DLC are just silly. I don’t get them at all. I don’t have the burning desire to figure out another build for a toon to try and get back some power that was taken away by the designers sweeping nerf effects.

And many others don’t either. They started playing other stuff already.

Cyrodil PvP is playing like crap. No one cares.

The new DLC is crap. Zone is hideous. The new trial is a POS. Wtf did they do this for? No one I know has beat the new vet trial yet. Most still can’t beat vet MoL, HoF, AS, or Cloudrest either.

My friends list has been decimated. It’s only been a week. Maybe they’ll start coming back? Maybe not? Well see.

yea totaly agree with u mate , even murkmire zone looks like its been added by throwing a plate of spaghetti on the wall. a tiny zone. all we got was a pat on the shoulder while they silently laughed at us.

no more crap content add for the future tnx

fix the game once and for all or put it to sleep. as more gamers will just have had enough and move on to other games eventualy.

love the game , hate the company and agenda.

Shield nerfs aren't that bad. Still big enough to get 1-2 blows out of you. Also, I can now turn my MagSorc into a tank without touching attributes. Just have heavy with infused hp enchantments and boom! one button gives me 12K shield with 30K+ resistances. I miss the speed though :( No more cute speed-walking and I have to spam my magicka away while questing.

Wife plays a Sorceress with just under 20k health without issue.

Murkmire itself runs better than any recent area added. The changes made with it are another story, but the area itself performs much better than similar sized content did in the past.

PvP has performed terribly for a very long time and will not ever be fixed realistically. The insistence of balancing PvP and PVE together will make sure of it.

The technical aspects of PvP can't be fixed as far as I can tell. It will always run as though it has one leg shorter than the other. It's a reality we ought to have accepted by now.

    You know, it's funny.

With all the tantrums thrown around these forums about the shield changes, I was expecting that even I, as someone who barely ever cares about so-called "balance" changes, might actually be impacted by the change in a significant way. Yet, like every other "balance" change that has gone before, I've noticed no difference in doing the content I like to do on my two characters that use damage shields. My lightning mage - a magicka sorcerer - is certainly not dead, and still goes around soloing world bosses and off-tanking normal dungeons just like he used to.

On top of that, I got a fantastic new zone to explore. The writing team continues to deliver with excellent content in terms of polished story, fascinating lore, and well-written dialogue. The design of spaces continues to be head and shoulders above the standards of the base game, with me pausing at regular intervals to take screen captures of photogenic spaces. Exploring the lore of Argonian culture was a blast. That instrument with the frogs? Haha! That was awesome! There were cute random encounters in the swamps too. And something that impressed me in particular as someone who enjoys the study of philosophy and religion? Quite a bit of time was spent exploring the philosophy and religion of Argonians - the lessons of which are extremely relevant to our own lives. The Argonian people tell tales about K u -vastei or "needed change" and going with the river's course. Some of the folks around here could do with some lessons from Argonian philosophy and religion these days.

EDIT - because the language filter keeps censoring Argonian lore words, which is absurd. In what universe is K u - a filterable swear word?!

The most important thing you can learn from Argonians in general is just the fact that they make great purses, bags and boots.

Because adding an "r" to that argonian word instead of a dash turns it into a polish swear word. You know, because automatic text filters are such a great idea.

You’re not gonna notice much of anything different in normal overland questing and wat not. Nothing is gonna hit you that hard on normal. This is more of a vet content and PvP change.
    SammyFable wrote: »

Your shield size is now limited to %40 of your maximum health. So where I was fine running around with 17k health or so before and my shield was around 19k, now i need around 30 k health to have a 12k shield. They added resistance to our shields, that I thaught would help; but they get shredded very quick anyways.

So on a build that was focusing on max magic for damage and defense now also has to consider Health, as it directly limits the size of your defense. Raising your health will lower your max magic thereby also lowering your offensive capabilities with such builds. So now it may be better to focus on something else like spell damage.

Essential the devs just ruined a build I’d grown fond of and figured out how to play on an underperforming class from the start.

Thanks for sharing your experience and I agree people are over-reacting by saying magicka sorcs are completely broken, but using world bosses and normal dungeons as your metric on things being fine doesn't make sense at all for players that have been around a while. Most experienced players have already killed all the world bosses and beaten all of the normal dungeons multiple times, and are more focused on trials, vet DLC dungeons, and competitive PVP, which is where the impact is really felt.
