You know, it's funny.
With all the tantrums thrown around these forums about the shield changes, I was expecting that even I, as someone who barely ever cares about so-called "balance" changes, might actually be impacted by the change in a significant way. Yet, like every other "balance" change that has gone before, I've noticed no difference in doing the content I like to do on my two characters that use damage shields. My lightning mage - a magicka sorcerer - is certainly not dead, and still goes around soloing world bosses and off-tanking normal dungeons just like he used to.
On top of that, I got a fantastic new zone to explore. The writing team continues to deliver with excellent content in terms of polished story, fascinating lore, and well-written dialogue. The design of spaces continues to be head and shoulders above the standards of the base game, with me pausing at regular intervals to take screen captures of photogenic spaces. Exploring the lore of Argonian culture was a blast. That instrument with the frogs? Haha! That was awesome! There were cute random encounters in the swamps too. And something that impressed me in particular as someone who enjoys the study of philosophy and religion? Quite a bit of time was spent exploring the philosophy and religion of Argonians - the lessons of which are extremely relevant to our own lives. The Argonian people tell tales about K u -vastei or "needed change" and going with the river's course. Some of the folks around here could do with some lessons from Argonian philosophy and religion these days.
EDIT - because the language filter keeps censoring Argonian lore words, which is absurd. In what universe is K u - a filterable swear word?!

Your shield size is now limited to %40 of your maximum health. So where I was fine running around with 17k health or so before and my shield was around 19k, now i need around 30 k health to have a 12k shield. They added resistance to our shields, that I thaught would help; but they get shredded very quick anyways.SammyFable wrote: »You "need" 30k health? For what?

Because adding an "r" to that argonian word instead of a dash turns it into a polish swear word. You know, because automatic text filters are such a great idea.
