Clockwork City Focus; Will Precursor now be fixed/available?

I found some random pieces in dungeons a while back (parts of the Precursor) and asked around about them. Someone took me to Clockwork City, showed me the device thing to put the pieces in, so I put them in. Then left not knowing I had done this out of sequence. So later, I started reading up on the quest and pieces and all, went out and collected EVERY last one of the parts, including doing all the required Clockwork City Quests for it. When I went back to the Device/Machine (I don't remember the name of it now) it was basically non-existent. Can't find it or interact with it.

So bottom line, I have 12 parts of the Precursor that I now carry as part of my inventory because I can't find a way to dispose of them. (It would be nice to free up those spaces though)

My questions: Since we are focusing on Clockwork City for next event, is it possible this could be fixed? (Perhaps there are other people that are in the same situation.) What can I do to resolve it?
