It is past time to make or form a "crafter" based focus group

For some people playing ESO, the crafting portion of the game, is as important to them as the PVE or PVP portion of the game. Yet the majority of the people i talk to via several voice clients and also in game text based chat feel that for the most part crafting is kind of the unwanted /ignored portion of the game. Im not talking about the addition of new styles or craftable furnishings which, while, is a portion of the overall spectrum called crafting, is not the issue that is and remains unresolved and ignored. There seems to be a severe lack of care or desire to fix or address issues in the crafting game. below is a list of item i can speak to directly .
1. Jewelry Master writs are just a take up bank/bag space item because the temper mats are worth far more then the value of the vouchers you receive for doing them. doubling or tripling the vouchers still would not equal the value of the mats
a.I suggest increasing the drop rate of the mats to bring them into the rate of the rest of the temper mats and lower the number required.
2. Perfect roe The absolutely abysmal rate of drop on these(1 every 4 hours of fishing )(personal experience) make the the current voucher rewards better but still not in line for the effort required to obtain the mats.
3. Clothing clothier is a mess as far as all things cloth wise the leather side is pretty much okay here are the issues.
a. Clothier surveys simply do not drop at a reasonable rate when compared to to other crafts especially since summerset the drop rate seems to have been reduced buy at least 50 percent my bank and bags tell the story
b. clothier cloth mats see to have a inferior spawn rate out in the world some of the tiers of the cloth mats are stupidly rare.
c. craft dailys' are skewed towards the cloth side rather then the leather side which is problematic with the insanely low rate for clot mats.
d. Clothier Master writs also are skewed towards cloth over level my bags/banks again tell the story.
e. I almost feel like ive entered the twilight zone when i see the absolutely insane rare mat requirements for housing furnishing crafting this could use a evaluation and either increase the drop rate of these mats or lower the requirements
So getting a bunch of crafters together and discussing what needs to be done to fix this is a good idea

I assume this isn't covered by the class reps, and it ought to be. There should be a pure crafter operating as a "class" rep for the crafters. It wouldn't be sufficient to have a class rep for an adventuring class who "crafted a bit", nor would it be appropriate to have meetings with the developers about every other aspect of the game except crafting!

Also, I don't know whether this game has a really dedicated crafter on the development side, but I do recall how central to EQ2's success in the crafting area of the game was the involvement of Emily "Domino" Taylor as SOE's crafting lead developer, especially during the formative years.

I enjoy the crafting on all my (29) characters, but not obsessively so. I ought to spend some time following the crafting section of the forum, so thanks for giving me the heads up that will nudge me in that direction  ! Good luck with your proposal.

Good grief, next people will be demanding a pure RPer rep to represent the RP side of the game.

The class rep program is about combat balance and related pain points, not just any random aspect of the game that players enjoy.

Looks like you have your slippery slope logic down. Kudos.

Crafting does have pain points and is a large part of the game for some players ... why is it less important than the "random aspects of the game" you play?

I find that every aspect of any game has "pain points". So, there should be reps for every one of them.

Not that the devs pay any attention anyway.

I don't see this a parallel to the class discussions. Certain things are purposefully rare and hard to make in crafting. We all know what they are. No one with special expertise is needed to mention these. People can complain and ask them to rethink these things, but no representative is needed.

And there is no balance involved that can't be resolved with simple math.

Crafting might have pain points, but frankly, we don't need a Rep and a Discord to tell the Devs, "Hey, why are 2/3rds of Clothing writs using silk?" They certainly aren't ignorant of the community's feelings on Jewelrycrafting and chose to implement it their way anyways.

They've fixed stuff in the past, like Alchemy writs requiring tons of nirnroot, without that. They've made inprovements on Jewelry crafting.

And Perfect Roe has an established drop rate of 1 in 100, so perhaps your RNG just sucks. ZOS isn't going to increase that, because that inflates the amount of exp pots people can make.

So, these are your pain points, and that's fine. By all means, raise the, with the devs here. But we crafters do not need a class rep, and even if we had one, Murkmire made it pretty clear there's no guarantee ZOS would listen to them if we did.

I have multiple master crafters. I do daily crafting writs on at least 10 characters every day. Crafting is a huge part of the game for me, but it's beyond the scope of the class rep program which is about combat balance (the part of my post you conveniently ignored). Demanding a "pure crafter class rep" is about as silly as demanding a pure RPer class rep.

So, regardless, We could certainly use a focus group where some of the long term issues that effect the crafter population which can and does effect portions of game play for the game over all. I could say, that for me, the crafting portion of the game is almost as important as the PVE portion of the game, they are part and parcel of the entire game play and to some extent interdependent on each other. I could wish that this would be a discussion of the merits of fixing what is not working right(in crafting) but ....
