Hardened Ward Formula

I've been trying to find the formula for hardened ward and not having much success. I'm not worried about damage mitigation on the shield, I just want to be able to calculate how much magicka I need at x amount of health to have a shield size that is exactly at the 50% shield cap in a no-CP environment.

Any know the formula or where to find it?

Copied from an earlier post I made on the PTS:

Comparing Shield Strength to various bonuses:
    0 Health Attribute = 15888, Max shield 40% = 6564
What is needed to reach shield cap? Blue/Purple Food + 1 Arcane Jewelry or 1 Large Magicka Enchant

    10 Health Attribute = 17352, Max shield 40% = 7169
What is needed to reach shield cap? 10 Magicka Attribute + Blue/Purple Food + 1 Arcane Jewelry or 1 Large Magicka Enchant

    20 Health Attribute = 18816, Max shield 40% = 7774
What is needed to reach shield cap? 20 Magicka Attribute + Blue/Purple Food + 1 Arcane Jewelry or 1 Large Magicka Enchant

    Health Difference from 10 to 20 = 1464
    Shield Difference from 10 to 20 = 605

So...as long as a player has equal or greater attribute points in Magicka as Health, uses a blue or purple max level food, and has one piece of max level large gear or jewelry, they will be at the 40% shield cap.

The bar for hitting this cap is so low, it will easily be hit by any Magicka player without even trying.

I doubt anyone has put the formula out there. It is likely the same formula for the magicka scaling capped by the health percentage.

So there is no reason to suspect the formula changed. Just that a cap based on health was added and that is what most of us will look at anyhow, except high health tanks.

Thanks. I was mildly worried that if I ignored magicka lines on gear and jewelry in favor of spell damage and regen I wouldn't even hit the caps.

The problem in optimising a build, though, is figuring out how not to waste max mag by exceeding the cap..

I wish I knew exactly how big a shield (regardless of cap) X magicka would give -for each of the magicka based shields.

The cap for the ward is 39% of your max magic. After that, it is 40/50% of your health.

So if you had 10k max magic, your Ward would be 3.9k . If your health was 5k though, your Ward would be capped at 2k with empowered, 2.5k with harden ward.

Is that for all wards? (given they all have different tooltips) hardened being bigger than conjured, dampen bigger than harness, healing being tiny of health is high etc...

This is just for the morphs of conjured Ward. The only 2 wards that scale with only magic are conjured and annulment. They are also the only ones that are capped. No reason to bring steadfast ward into the conversation, it scales completely different then the other 2, it uses spell damage in the coefficient as well and does not have a health percentage limit.

Empowered and hardened ward are the same 39% of your max magic, the only thing that hardened does is allow 10% more scaling with your health, is 40% to 50% of it.

The morphs of annulment are 34% of your max magic. Same deal with dampen as hardened, it only adds 10% more to the amount the ward is capped by your health, 40% to 50%.

So to directly answer your question, what would be the best max magic/health balance number, you want around 1.026x more max magic then health with empowered ward and with hardened, you want around 1.25x as much magic as health. harness is 1.17x more max magic then health and dampen is 1.47x more max magic then health.
