Where does Hackwing Plumage, the Murkmire style material, come from?

Hello. I'm trying to figure this out so I will know where to look when the update comes to console. The Hackwing Plumage is a style material needed for crafting gear with one of the new motifs in addition to being an ingredient in the new furnishing blueprints. My question is where does it come from?

I checked the patch notes but did not see anything about this mentioned. For previous updates, the patch notes explicitly stated where the style items would come from. Examples:

• Summerset: "The Style Item for Sapiarch Motifs, Culanda Lacquer, come from those same daily quests."
• Clockwork City: "The Chapters for this style and its Style Item, Tenebrous Cord, can be obtained by completing certain Daily Quests."
• Morrowind: "The style item, Volcanic Viridian, can be refined from Viridian Dust, which can be found uncommonly on any harvestable resource in Vvardenfell."

I know that you can sometimes extract it from deconstructing items crafted in styles it is used for (like with all style mats) but what is the alternative method for finding it in the game? Does it come from daily quests, harvesting nodes, or something different? @ZOS_GinaBruno Was this overlooked in the patch notes?

Doing dailies. Says so in the patch notes too.

@TheCyberDruid Where? I must be blind. I Ctrl+F searched "style" and "hackwing" and read the motif section and didn't see anything

Only comes from deconning the gear in elder argonian. Bright bloat and champions or something.

Crocodile skin is for the dread motif which drops from dailies there.

Elder argonian is not currently in game as a motif, so no raw materials are dropping.

i've been doing the dailies in murkmire since it dropped and haven't gotten ANY of these yet. haven't gotten them from rewards or from deconning.

Got a few from deconning reward gear from dailies, so the style material is in the game, even if the motif is not. (You also need it for furniture, so it better be available.)

Not the Hackwings for certain. Logically the number this one has killed she would expect to find some.

Instead she finds it occasionally from taking to bits metal shirts she finds while out and about.

Such a strange world we live in yes ...

Also worth noting that the Hackwings in Murkmire DON'T ACTUALLY HAVE FEATHERS, despite the tons of established lore about the magical properties of Hackwing feathers. Oops?

For almost all of the new styles, deconning something in that style is the best source. Do have your extraction passives maxed out though for best results.

And, there are always Mimic Stones, stock up during crown sales.

Finally, the Outfit Stations don't require Style Mats. At least I don't think they do. But I have made things in new motifs without the new mats, but I have a ton of mimic stones, so don't pay attention.

Does come from the dailies but isn’t guaranteed. I tend to decon the set items from murkmire to get some more

And furnishings....and I don't see any option to use Crown Mimic Stones for that......HINT!!

If the material only comes from deconstruction, where the maker of the first piece get any?

Is this a temporal anomaly, or Divine/Daedric intervention? (Or both)

FYI, this is an OLD thread (necromancy in Murkmire?) and the Elder Argonian motif pages have been available for over a year now - they seem to drop from the World Boss dailies (with Dead-water motif pages from the other two dailies). Style mats are from the dailies and deconstructing set items found in the zone; however they are not guaranteed drops (nor are the motif pages).

Pieces in the style were dropping in game as loot before we could actually acquire the style mat from them, so this is not really a chicken-and-egg problem.

But if you ever want a style mat that is not easily accessible, like Frostcaster’s, or is expensive (like refined bonemold resin), you can craft in that style using a mimic stone and decon for the style mat. Not guaranteed, but it works. Just make sure the mat is actually available, because we’ve been seeing armor drop in new styles whose mats are unobtainable until the next update. New Moon and Shields of Senchal are in game on certain drops from Southern Elsweyr, for example, but you can’t get their style mats yet. That should change once Harrowstorm drops.
