Gallop AP pots

Regardless of how the speed nerfs shake out over time, I would like to see these added to PVP vendors:
  • Potion of Major Gallop, 500(?) AP, 45 seconds of 30% personal mounted speed; breaks on combat initiated (I think that is already inherent in the Gallop code?)
It's an AP sink and benign to combat (the resupply advantage would be even for all alliances) and makes some of the horse simulator pain go away, especially for newbs and alts working up horse skills.

(RM is still far superior for those that can slot it - not looking to replace it, just make life a little easier for everyone else.)

Are there any pitfalls with people getting to battles easier/faster?

Not all builds can slot it comfortably. Not everyone (probably the majority) runs in an pre-organized group.

The former speed pots (usually cheap made versions or farmed/bought roguish draught) filled this role. 15 seconds doesn't cut it anymore.

What's the downside to having this?

I have seen people in no cp, who did not have enough stamina to cast rapid maneuver. Also you are damned to slot RM and deslot it everytime you ride and after, if you do not use the assisted rapid riding addong (or whatever it is called). So I actually see some benefits of using those pots, but also disadvantages (my quickslots are normally full enough without such a riding pot...).

Assist Rapid Riding Addon is all you need if you cannot fit it into your regular build.

I play almost exclusively magicka builds (f*** fotm) and it works just fine. And it is considerably less risky than having your potion on constant cooldown when traveling.

Though there is no reason not to add such a potion to the game - to each their own.

    Consoles are a thing.

Agreed--I'd never use this pot, but there isn't really a strong argument against it.

I like pot. When you mix speed with pot, bad things happen.

I like to minimize my number of addons as much as possible, plus console players don't have that option.

Just a thought. Maybe the need is small, but, I don't see the harm either.

With the size of Cyro major Gallop should just be a constant buff applied by battle spirit, that gets disabled if you get into combat while on horseback.

Right now everyone has arguably easy access to it, but it's tedious. Lowlevels might not even know what it is. Potions would put other pots on cooldown and they eat one of the quickslots so there would be downsides to using those.

Your first point would be awesome.

I don't really see spec/slot trade-offs as a downside. With limited slots we do that with everything. Obstacles are need and balance issues.

The riding addon is also kinda buggy (it gets stuck often enough to be annoying). I don't see any balance issues with this pot and I think I would use these, but I may be the only one, lol.

There's no downside, but I think your reasoning is flawed here.

Slotting Rapid Manoeuvers is a player choice as part of their overall build. Players may choose to not build for it (and not slot it) ... but that doesn't mean all builds don't have the capability of putting it on their bar. Player choice is way different than build capability.

(As someone who mostly runs magicka characters, I slot it in between fighting or when trying to get to the next destination.)

That said, you're right in the fact that this idea does not upset PvP balance ...

They're probably going to nerf Rapids, so this is a good idea
I refuse to slot it anyhow, it does nothing for me when I'm getting zergged down. I slot it in between while riding, then ganking happens. Just make my horse faster eso lol
