Is the only point of the event tickets to get the Indrik mount?

Is it true that even if I collect enough tickets (40) without the CWC expansion, that I won't be able to buy that specific feather?

Why would that be true? Who told you that?

If you miss a particular feather during an event, you'll be able to purchase that feather during the next event, just as long as you have the proper number of tickets.

There was an article on Forbes website where some guy did a write up on how he thought the whole Indrik mount process was extremely convoluted and confusing. I think there was various misinformation in the article, but one of the things he said was that you had to own CWC DLC in order to purchase the associated feather.

Video games fall under Forbes' purview? Never woulda thunk it.
And apparently, they aren't that good at covering them...

Previous events take lesser effort and gives a better looking mount with a decent vfx, there's also the Nix-ox mount that is totally unique and all you need is to have morrowind. Imo, I don't mind paying especially for DLC/Chapters that includes these kind of free stuffs because it's more efficient than spending all the time for this kind of event that wastes time & electric bills.

I'm just saying that for all these efforts, we should be getting a radiant/apex quality instead of this crap but what do we get? A mount reskin that will obviously use the same animation as horses that takes about 4 months to unlock. However, we're still lucky that ZOS didn't milk us for Indrik mount because it was largely requested by the community.

Sadly, as a completionist I have no choice but to comply.

I think this was their main focus when tying the Indrik mount to the events like this. One of the major pain points expressed by the forum crowd was that repeating events, especially those that have a set cycle of event-specific quests (New Life, Jester's Festival, etc) lost their luster after getting the associated achievements.

I'll be honest, I'm only really into achievements on my main character, so once I got all the event achievements for the New Life Festival and/or Jester's Festival I just used the event as an excuse to level up alts with the 100% xp bonus. I stopped participating in the event itself after the requirements were met. Am I bad person for doing this? Maybe, but I will tell you that because I can continue to collect event tickets for completing event-specific activities, I plan on participating throughout all the upcoming events this year. Probably still on alts, but at least I'll be working towards getting something tied to the event rather than just extra xp.

My guess is Forbes was struggling for website clicks and had a staffer that plays ESO so they were like, "Hey Bob, write something about that game you play. We won't bother vetting your information because hey, we're a finance magazine so nobody will take it seriously anyway, but a bunch of people who do play the game will visit our site, drive up our numbers, and we can sell more advertising space. Deal?"

Buying the DLC is not required for the feather. It's only a tool to gather more tickets

It looks like @ImmortalCX is under the same impression as the guy that wrote the Forbes article. Basically that you can't buy Indrik feathers from previous events if you didn't actually participate in the event. From what I can tell this isn't true (and seems like it would defeat the purpose of selling old feathers anyway?) but I do wonder where this idea came from.

The best part of the article is actually the author's bio:
"I’m a cognitive scientist, retired professor, musician, gamer, and avid cyclist with a B.A in History, an M.S. in History and Philosophy of Science, and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology. In addition to papers in professional scientific journals, I’ve written the book Nutrition for Cyclists: Eating and Drinking Before, During and After the Ride, articles for Ars Technica, Priceonomics, Psychology Today and Massively, and the blogs The Info Monkey and Tuned In To Cycling."

So.... this super duper smart person wrote an article for Forbes QQing about how hard it is to get a mount in a video game... :joy::joy:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with how they did the event. Don't want the indrik, don't do the event. It's as simple as that. Want the mount, log in for 10 minutes, do a delve or a dolmen, get the event ticket and log out. And Forbes is full of crap most of the time.

7 toons, played since beta and i've never done a single clockwork city daily I dont like the zone. How does this work for the event? Do you just need 1 daily to get the 2 event tickets or all 4?

it says Complete the zone’s daily quests but how many is that and where do u get them all, and do world bosses count???

Completing 1 quest gives you 1 ticket. That could be a world boss, a delve boss, a dolmen, or a single daily.

Feather redemption is in no way tied to DLC access. Only opportunities to receive more event tickets.

If somebody only participates in Witches and New Life, by the end of next year they'd still have enough opportunities to collect 40 tickets to redeem all four feathers and receive a Nascent Indrik. The feathers are not coded exclusively to the event they debuted in.
