From an unhappy subscriber who works nights so mostly plays between the hours of 1AM - 6 AM CST... i think the maintenance hours are unfair. It seems like every other night the server is going down for maintenance during the only hours of the day me and my bf have to play. Why not do it at like 9 AM CST when most people are either asleep or just getting up for work/school? Zenimax is close to losing two subs because they can't be bothered to have the game available during the time of day we can actually play.

While I fully understand your frustration, please note that usually there's only one day for maintenance per week and I'm pretty sure we all can survive that few hours while we can't play.

And I think.. They're not gonna change on the time. If they put it on an other time, like somwhere during the night hours in EU, then NA players would start writing these posts...

The maintenance times are set for the times which are easiest for ZOS' staff and effect the least of their customers.

Whilst it's frustrating for those working unsocial hours they can't change patch times around them.

There have been vastly more patches in the last weeks due to the issues which came with Murkmire's release.

I get where you comin from, however keep in mind that they have a normal workday, like other office based companies.
Furthermore they have to maintenance / Patch 2 Server per day, and both are on different continets.

Patches and Maintenance for EU are done in the morning for us, normally starting at 8 or 9 am UTC.
(which for me is 10 or 11 am.)
Idk how its in the US, but I assume they try to put it in the morning hours aswell, since then the population would be lowest.

And they wont change the maintenance times just because they'd loose 2 subs, they gain enough new subs / per day, so they dont care.

Maintenance is always badly timed for someone.
For me 9 AM CST would mean coming home from work in the middle of a maintenance window. :/

If ZOS changes maintenance times so it 'works out' for you, it won't work for me.
Change it so that it works for you and me. and it'll screw over someone else.

The worst thing in all these maintenances is the lack of information when the maintenance will be over.
From a customers point of view I would expect a selling company to provide this information on demand or announce publicly in time when the paid service stops working.

I agree with you in general which is why I have said that 9-10 AM EST would be the best for maintenance because at that time of day most people in NA are either sleeping or just getting up to go to work or school and thus probably not on ESO. I am a night shift worker and thus the only hours of the day I can play this game are between I AM EST and 7 AM. I have spent hundreds of dollars on this game in the crown store and I just wish it had better maintenance hours is all. :(

FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

ZOS knows the numbers on when the lowest population plays and conversely the highest. 10AM EST to say 1PM EST would really rankle the highly populated European servers because that hits the start of their PrimeTime.

Somebody will always be affected and gaming companies always choose the least number of players affected (well mostly)

See, 9-10 AM on NA servers would be ok.. but here they like to do it at like 3 AM EST which is like 2 AM for midwest players and something like 12 for the west coast which is just way too early imo.

Or let's just tell ZOS never do maintenance again, never fix bugs, never put in new content and let's live and play together with the bugs, huh?

The entitlement level in this topic is too damn high! Sure, let's 2/3 of the playerbase suffer because somebody has unusual working hours... /sarcasm off
The current maintenance time is the best choice for NA and EU (sleep/work), why would they change it? I'm sorry it's inconvenient for you, but you are in minority. As for the frequency... I suppose it could be done better, but I'm not an expert.

It's annoying for me too. Monday is my day off but it's also ESO's normal maintenance day, so I lose one of the times which is most convenient for me to play. It's not a big issue because I can just play something else (like Guild Wars 2 which is almost never offline) but it definitely means I don't play ESO as much as I would otherwise.

To be fair ArenaNet seems to be very much the exception. I don't understand why once someone had figured out the tech to update a game without taking it offline everyone else didn't copy it, but for whatever reason they didn't, even for newer games like ESO.

I agree with the original poster. You know what else is not fair? Having the Olympics or European Cup at odd hours. Even worse when the Olympics and World Cup is in Asia. This is unacceptable. Like they should not be on a 3am EST when I am sleeping. The games should be on after work so like 7pm EST. Maybe 6pm EST starts would be acceptable as well. Anything before that is no good because I am in traffic then or at work.

    This needs to change now.
