Ancestral Ties Trespassing Issue

So I have a major issue here, hoping someone can guide me in the right direction or get a ZOS response.
Part of the Ancestral Ties quest is to get offerings, one of them being in an area that is considered "trespassing". Now, I wasn't spotted by any of the patrolling guards, and managed to get the item in question just fine... But on my way back to Ald'ruhn, I was accosted stopped by a guard informing me that I would need to pay the fine on my head...
Needless to say I was gutted, as, for the 3 years I've had my account, I've committed no crimes. It is one of my "good" characters, and I simply cannot RP it away, as I specifically went out of my way to protect myself from this, such as installing an add-on to prevent stealing.
Is there anything that can be done? To reset my justice system progress? Why can't we get big warnings, and get totally blocked from even entering a zone if we specify this? To some it may not be an issue, but to those of us that take our roleplay seriously, it is a matter of deleting the account and starting over, and I honestly don't wish to lose 3 years of progress.
