On a magblade i was thinking of changing my helm. Has anyone tested any of those 2 sets? I have zaan at the moment but i know it doesnt proc often and in situations like dungeons and trials there will be moments where you are too far away from the target for zaan to proc. is infernal any better? or is illambris better than these two?

infernal guardian or maw of the infernal?

actually it doesn't matter. use skoria for range, zaan for melee.

Zaan by a country mile. Valkyn if you're worried about the range.

Maw for the coolness factor, zaan for boring DPS superiority.

grothdarr...in dungeons it seems the enemies are always in melee range...

Edit: the deadroth's big butt is always in the way of the tank...leave maw of the infernal for pvp or solo play...

Maw of Infernal Vs Zaan. for pure damage, Zaan but as you stated range can be an issue. MoI doesnt do as much damage but range isnt an issue.

Personally i would go Skoria, its got range, has AoE splash, gives you health, also for me its got the cool factor XD

On a magblade, why are you using a ward?

Skoria. Infernal is good but its good a tendency to launch projectiles haphazardly and often your target is no longer at that point.

This, it even annoys me when playing solo.

Grothdar for AoE trash pulls and bosses with plenty of adds
Zaan for single target bosses where range is a non-issue
    Skoria for overall coverage
    Nerien'eth for lolz
Infernal Guardian for when your team sucks and you have to play more defensively (well, as defensively as current wards allow anyway)
Maw of the Infernal for when you want to troll your tank or have them hate you/die.

I switched to Infernal Guardian on my Mag Pet Sorc (yes, you read that right) and it constantly procs. I actually prefer the auto range targeting of the 3 mortars, makes it easy to deal with Adds. Plus, it will target the boss when there are no Adds.

But yeah, it only makes sense if your build casts shields a lot ...

Skoria is very popular with magblades. I think it is even better than anything else in our case.

I prefer Skoria to other sets because it will hit the mobs regardless if they move, and it can affect multiple targets. Also as a magblade you put a lot of dot attacks on your targets, so it will proc all the time you are engaged in combat and you are doing your rotation.

I like maw of the infernal (I hope I am not making a confusion here) because of the daedroth, which is quite funny to summon, but it is less useful, so I use it for questing/farming when I like to change things a bit for fun. Also Illambris is great, but you need the mobs to sit in place and in many fights this just does not happen. Zaan is cool if it procs and you use ambush or something like that to close the gap, but most likely you won't have that in PvE, so it is a great set for PvP.

Earthgore for when you really, really don't trust your tank and healer.
