Zos, ty for the challenging quest "Death Among the Dead-Water"

As an endgame character, I finally came across a powerful quest boss that I could not just burst down unclimaticly in 2 seconds in a dps setup. he spawns with 146k hp and about 700k armor so the average player will not be able to burst him down and ignore the mechanics. It is during the quest "Death among the Dead-Water" for Dead-water Village and I loved that you made it so that it punishes you for not following the mechanics with a potential one shot. The npc that aids you even tells you to "use your head" in this boss fight. the mechanics are using a quest item to get into high ground or the boss will kill you if below ground when he does a huge red aoe mechanic. the boss will shoot spit that stays on your high ground and you have to move onto another high ground spot with a vine ability the quest provides you. more quests should be like this that provide this challenge. It is too bad that this quest wasn't instanced and this boss could be taken on by more than one person so I had to wait to challenge myself.

    Tho it might get nerfed by the time it reaches console. tho its best to hold this quest off till less people are on if you want a challenge. wish this quest was instanced as people can help you.

    you are given a warning and are told to get to high ground so its up to you to react to it.

    It wasn't even difficult. You can still burst it down before the mechanics come into play.

    So... they are actually integrating some end-game player solo/overland content to their DLCs? That's certainly appreciated. I've been hoping that they take some of the elements of Craglorn that made it challenging, like harder hitting overland monsters and group quests/dailies/delves and embedding them within a section of the new DLC story zones.

    Nice to know they are at least making steps towards that direction

    he spawns with 146k hp and about 700k armor, you are telling me you can burst him down before he does any mechanics? he seems to do it as soon as he spawns do the huge red aoe pretty fast when I engage him in melee range.

    Yes, I did. On a stam sorc who I don't even use for PVE, whose DPS barely tops 20k on a 3m dummy. lol

    He did one jump into the air, enraged, threw off some green AoE, and nearly killed me towards the end, but vigor and surge were enough to stay alive.

    The rest of this quest before the final boss fight is also awesome. It’s easily one of the Top 3 quests in the entire game. Terrific job by all of its creators.

    the part where you go through the vines to get across the mud, avoiding the traps that are the flora and other things were fun. and being greeted by that beautiful floral scene at the end was wonderful. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom props to your quest design team, this one gets challenge, aesthetic, and end of quest scenic reward right.

    1000+ overland quests and we finaly get one with the boss who actually have time (before dying) to tell us how he will shred apart our body :D

    Did the quest yesterday. Found the boss easy to navigate & kill, running a pet sorc. Stayed high the majority of the battle. Doing the same quest boss with other classes might be a little tougher.

    This post saddens me. i was on a cancer meme build when i did this quest on the char. all my oblivion damage ignored the armor of the boss and killed it in like 10 seconds.

    Hmmmm, you read it.
    So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.
