Sorc Pet Changes

    Before the servers came down, I decided to see how bad the shield nerfs affect my ability to solo kill a world boss.

    The very first thing my pets did was die.

    I resummoned them, and they died again within 5 seconds.

    I looked at the stats this morning on my magsorc and retired her. Fortunately (?) my magplar has been nerfed so freaking hard in the past that she didn't take any nerf damage from this latest patch.

    The game has absolutely taught me over the last couple years to dread patches. And this new one is no exception. Every. Single. Patch. Makes my game less fun.

    lol, public dungeons can be tough only for real newbie who played for several days questing and doesn't understand mechanics and they are PUBLIC so even complete noob can wait for average experienced guy who will *** that "group event boss" with noob's help. If for WB they are suggested to be completed by small group of randoms, not be abused by immortal pets. Same for PVP, idk what's else? oh, VMA.. well..

    As a tank with 40k hp 33k res 3k stamina recovery i decided to see if WBs can pierce my bonewall - no they cannot, i can create spiked walls faster then WB deals with them and drink tea meanwhile while WB kills himself on mentioned wall.

    From that you can see how this patch is preciously balanced.

    I am so glad I changed my magsorc to stop running pets a while ago (though I admit it was mostly because they were flopping and jumping around and blocking my view all the time not for actual combat reasons).

    They are (at least from what resarch I did before I changed) but then I'm more of a middle-tier player so I'm not an expert on that - works perfectly fine everywhere I go so I have no clue about vet Trials or vet DLC dungeons.

    So i'm a little upset.

    Logged on to my sorc to see how things would play out now that the update is live.
    My pets are dying in every single fight in a public dungeon now.

    Every single fight, I have to resummon them.

    What happened?

    so sorry for that,
    I would prefer your pets drop dead every time you enter a city or crafting station
    and you block all and everything with your dumb pets
    now that would be awesome

    My clannfear died 4 times on Sunhold public dungeon boss, not group one. He died freaking 4 times, he was supposed to tank things! At least taunt is working (not sure if this is that taunt they nerfed tho)..

    Tips:

    Pet sorc BGs - shield up and use healing when needed, up your HP with glyphs or masks.

    Overland and CP PVP - Ditch the entire Bastion CP and spread those points across other defenses.

    Boss soloing - heal your pets with Matriarch even if your own HP isn't down. Shield often. None or rarely any of your pets will die.

    All in all, totally survivable and much better than I hoped. I even use empowered and not hardened, so 40% for me. Also 24% less stun and 18% less for sprint for Light armour really helps a lot! People should try to find the solution before coming to moan on the forums, imo.

    Did ZOS somehow screwed the pets resistances while they were making the changes to make them immune in group content?

    I played a Pet Sorc, it's not that hard to open the character sheet, right click the pet. Players just wanted to have LAS.

    At this point, it's better just slot surge, get rid of pets in overland and shield yourself only. Use pets only in dungeons, group arena and trials (maybe not all of them, pets path AI is weird as heck.)

    Did they revert the aggro nerf (Not taunt, that was removed a while ago)?

    Because when i last tested this on PTS (about 2 weeks ago), the Clannfear did *not* draw any aggro at all, not even from trash mobs.

    PS: Seriously ZOS, the taunt/aggro was the only reason to even run the Clannfear ...

    I thought this patch should make pets immune to AoE.

    Note that this is another nerf to pet sorcerer DD and warden as healer will just look at player health not pets, double tap rapid regen / mutagen + combat prayer, reapply on cooldown and only do healing spring if heavy damage and group is stacked else BoL or matriarch. yes sorc could just put an class heal on overload bar :(
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    For anyone confused about why this is happening. Pets used to have high resistances. Now they scale based on your own, and since 99% of pet users are in light armor, they scale very poorly.

    Solution: Pets are immune to damage in pve. None of this, oh they are immune here, but not there BS

    I've been running Power Surge instead of Empowered Ward since the patch notes went live. I do die occasionally but Surge seems to keep me well healed, for the most part.

    Ye, I think aggro is still going to clannfear, at least most mobs get "taunt" buff from him, that would need more testing tho :/

    There's an addon, Pet Dismiss, that lets you bind it to a key. So I keep my pet on 5, and Pet Dismiss on F5.

    Just tested myself and it does appear that pets no longer take reduced damage in solo environments. To make matters even worse, shields scale to the health of the pet, so with Empowered Ward my Unstable Familiar was getting a whopping 5k shield. It couldn't even kill a durzog without me intervening.

    Sorcerer has been my main class since beta. I wrote one of the early leveling guides for sorcerer. My overland main was a Breton sorcerer. My dungeon main was an Altmer sorcerer.

    I don't plan to play sorcerer until something significant changes.

    I hurried off to Divad's Chagrin when I got in this morning. I was actually pretty surprised by how well my level 30 warden and her bear did in there - even two ogres or three casters and a couple durzogs weren't a problem. And there was a higher level pet sorc in there too, she was doing okay - I didn't see her pets die.... I didn't get a chance to see her level, I was trying to get hits in on the boss so I got my ticket and skull!

    Of course I have no clue how max level works....
