VMA question

Seems like 90% the Maelstrom weapons I get on a stam character are destro/resto staves, and 90% of the drops when I do VMA on a mag character are stam weapons... Is that a thing or is that just my perception?

there's no offical stance or data to back that up, BUT it was 100% my feel too. My magsorc dropped all BIS stamina weapons, in good traits, within first 15-18 clears. No staff

It's a thing and it is also true for group dungeons. I always switch to a different character when farming for sets.

I use my StamBlade when i'm farming for Magicka sets and my MagSorc when farming for Stamina sets.

Perception. Hell, my 1st (and only) Zaan helmet was heavy divines, just what I wanted. OTOH farming green pact took forever while getting like 100 syrabane weapons (slight exaggeration)... so maybe there´s conscious evil in the system

Perception. Also desired outcome. The lootlist r set up in a way, that u have a >90% chance, that u get an undesired item (vma has a 92,3% chance to not drop the weapontype u want). I tracked loot a couple of times, reading up statistics u can get the impression that someone evil hands u the worst possible item, generally drops always were "well within parameters".

I'm gonna just go with this conspiracy theory until proven otherwise. Time to strip the impen off my Magplar and go to work.

No need for a tinfoil hat.
ZOS knows what the character you are playing is setup for. Their RNG is heavily weighted already. Just put the two together.

Just good ol' RNG. I don't care about drops anymore and I get a bit of everything. However, when I was hunting for vMA daggers and axes.... well, let's just say it took long enough for them to drop. Like, more than a hundred runs long.

Odd, I get significantly more Ice staves from the last chest than Fire and Lightning combined, yet 3 or 4 of my total 5 Lightning staves came from the weekly mail!

It's all random and based on perception. I really dont believe that the loot tables are affected by your attribute distribution, and I am aware of nothing that would support that. When we finally got trait change, I had close to 400 VMA weapons. I always thought they might be used as a token system or something. Once we got trait change, I decond all but 5 of each type (6 of all the DW ones). The only weapon I didnt have at least 5 of was Ice Staff, not that I was too bothered by it. haha

Thought I was going crazy but that's what I started to suspect while I was farming VMA /facepalm .. I could build a boat with all those bows till I got my one and only inferno staff. It's just RNG being RNG..I guess
