A question about Jorvuld's Guidance set

How many allies does it buff? In a trial group, does it buff the entire party?

I'm trying to get a full set of this armor, and would like to know if people run this as jewelry/weapons, or as armor, and what you combine it with. Thanks!

Yes it is a very popular and fun set to use in trials.

    Is Jorvuld's + Olirime, or Jorvuld's + SPC better?

    Is Jorvuld's + Olirime, or Jorvuld's + SPC better?

There's a lot of factors, but the easier answer is jorvulds + olorime.

Jorvuulds just increases the duration of any buffs/shields so as many people as the particular buff will cover (usually all).

I run body pieces since I pair with Olorime & 1 bar olorime for more controlled procs.
    Is Jorvuld's + Olirime, or Jorvuld's + SPC better?

Olorime is better than SPC since it gives the same buff but has a target cap of 12 where as SPC has a target cap of 6. Obviously thats if your group can either stack or notice the buff circle.

@Sparr0w, is the 6 target cap for SPC like: Can only be applied on up to 6 people at any given time, max. OR The buff can only be initially applied to 6 people in a given second/heal?

If it's impossible to put the SPC buff on 7 people, I need to know!

@GreenHere (Sorry Sheeza tagged wrong person initially)

Never tested, just always told both healers had to wear SPC for the full group to get the buff due to the target cap.

@Tasear might know, can't think of any healers to tag off the top of my head that would reply quickly.

Thanks everyone :) I ended up going Olirime Resto and Lightning staff and hands belt and gloves, and Jorvulds jewels chest and legs with Earth Gore. The extra regen let me drop red frothgar for purple tristat food so my overall stats are better already! This is on an Argonian too. So far I’m liking the change. Before I was in 5 Healer 5 SPC 2 Earth Gore and I’m so glad to replace Healer set. Can’t wait to heal a trial for witches festival o:)<3:)

Thanks @Sparr0w and @Tasear , I had heard about the SPC limitation, and repeatedly forgot to look into it. Most of my healing is in 4 man stuff, so this is something I wasn't sure on for a long time.

Any chance SPC will be adjusted in the future, @Tasear? Seems like a silly cap to have on such a set, imo.

Sorry for the minor derail, @Sheezabeast. Glad your new setup is working for you, and that you got your Olorime staves! The grind can be real tough.

On a serious note concerns about buff limitations have been brought by many of the class reps.

Might sound dumb, but I really don't want to use Olorime since it doesn't have the purple glow effect, haha

Not to mention, people notice and walk into that feather circle Olorime puts down approximately 8% of the time, from what I can tell. I have to drop it directly on them, but that's hard when people are scattered (like in PvP, or PuGs, for instance) or the fight is simply mobile. SPC is still my favored set. I'd love to see it buffed to affect 12.

Agree I use Asylum front bar for reduced orbs cost & Olorime lightning back bar for controlled procs with liquid/shards

I have an Asylum Resto in the bank, problem is, I don’t really have room on my bars to slot Combat Prayer. I already had to ditch Sweeps for Elemental Drain...unless you can recommend a better bar setup. On Resto I have BoL, Mutagen, Healing Springs, Healing Ward, and Ritual with Barrier. Destro is Blockade, Elemental Drain, Shards, Radiant Destruction, and Rune Focus and Nova. If you have any recommendations I’d love to hear, I used to slot Orbs but took it off. Any tips that could help me be more effective are welcome.

There's no set best in slot bar setup for healing since everything is situational. The only skills I'd put as mandatory are Springs, Prayer, Orbs, Drain (only 1 healer needs drain) & Shards if templar.

If 'Ritual' is ritual of rebirth then you could either drop that or BoL since they effectively do the same job :)

It really depends how you play, but in most situations you don't need healing ward. You could also get away with not using mutagen, but I can understand it's a nice skill to have with all the sporadic players. But usually ritual is enough at least for me.hmm there's some more but does that help?

Agreed on dropping Ward as a first pick. I'm not the most experienced healer around, but I found that casting Ward to save a life then healing them up was just adding an extra step as a Templar. Breath of Life solves the issue quicker, and more effectively.

On other classes of healer, Ward can be a nice "WAITWAITWAIT... I got you!" skill to save a life or two, but since Breath can instantly refill any dd's health bar and then some, I don't feel it's needed for Templar healers.

No derail, I asked about how many it buffed too! Glad we got to find out :) I’m actually having trouble getting a Jorvulds Resto to drop :s ran Scalecaller so many times today...

You have my sympathies. I have been trying to get a resto for a long time, but you are aware you can slot an arena staff say...asylum instead on the front bar?

I totally see what you mean by extra step, never thought of it that way. I can totally take off Ward for Combat Prayer, plus Jorvulds will bufff the 8 second buffs from Combat Prayer! Really good idea. Thanks!

If I change my morph of Orbs to the healing one from the damage one, I could make up the hot with more on demand burst heal synergy. I’ll try it. Might feel naked without Mutagen, but I mostly used it to proc SPC, so now that I’m not running it, I can break free from using it :p thanks for your help!

    Happy to help!

And, as far as I know, Energy Orb is the only heal in the game to proc every half second. It's pretty amazing. More chances to crit = a lot more heals than the tooltip might initially make you think. I often hear that people prefer its synergy over shards, too, since it's easier to grab on the move; and more people can grab them if you're throwing ~3 Orbs at a time as most do.

I’ve never seen PoTL on anyone but Stamplars, hmm...what’s the advantage of that morph on a pure mag character?

I run it in trials usually since we don't have stamplars in the group & it allows DD's to shift points out of piercing into something else & grants the group Minor Sorcery. If there is a stamplar I'd probably run Extended Ritual or even pop Inner Light there.

Other morph is perfectly fine to run & will give you more dps, along with healing when it expires.

Not to immediately dispute @Sparr0w 's choice on PotL (it is a good source of Minor Breach/Fracture), but Purifying Light is a good skill! It's a pretty big force multiplier for contributing dps, and I find the heal that it sticks to an enemy (and even their corpse!) really valuable. Allows you to still heal moderately well while focusing on damage more heavily, in situations that allow / call for it. Purifying Light is sometimes the only healing over time my allies are getting, when I'm more focused on Combat Prayer and putting lightning and debuffs under baddies.

Power of the Light is good, though. Even as a magPlar. The damage is less, but if your group is doing serious dps, those Minor debuffs can contribute more damage overall than your Purifying burst would, by far. I think it's more suited to Trials & PvP, where there are more damage sources being poured onto the target.

EDIT :: I typed this up before @Sparr0w's reply showed up. They summed it up better. :)

Very utility, cool :o thats really neat actually. Do you keep your vamp at stage 2? I’m not a vamp, curious if I should try it sometime.

Being honest I usually sit at stage 4 unless we're going into a trial with heavy fire because 1) I'm lazy & 2) I'm poor

I find Vamp abilities really useful in niche situations e.g. vAS kiting mechanic and the 10% regen + reduced damage at low HP is really nice to have since it gives more reaction time to heal yourself before you're dead.
