Pets in homes don't do anything?

I placed a dog in one of my homes and it just stands there. There's no action loop like when it's following me around? It's creepy just standing there. Why can't it run around, lie down to nap, anything?

They won’t run around. If it doesn’t lie down to nap when you have it out in the world, it won’t lie down in the home. The older models just stand and pant/sniff. The newer dogs have idle animations that they do whenever you are standing still in the regular game world so those are the ones that will lie down etc. For example the grey Windhelm Wolfhound does nothing but stand in my house but the Dwarven War dog and Craglorn Welwa sits down, lies down, scratches, digs, and I think eats a bone.

So try a different/newer dog if you want more animation.

No pet will ever run around. It’s too difficult to predict where every player will put obstacles so that’s not going to happen.

I suggest they make it like the crafting stations, a green circle on the ground if there aren’t any obstacles and have the pet animate within that area; but it doesn’t make them more money to add that feature.

I have a bear cub in my home and he does his animation. I have my scuttler in there and he is animated too. So might be bug or something.

I put the Markarth Bear-Dog in a Khajiit mini tent building so it looks like a doghouse. He goes and does his sniffing animation most of the time so I put a bowl of soup where his nose dips down and now it looks like he's eating from time to time... or digging at the wood.

I'll try a different dog then. It makes sense that not all pets are developed equal

Should we request for pet personality.
Like pet running around in circles.
Doing tricks you buy at the crown store.
Should also be applicable to mounts.
