One of the core aspects of any good RPG and MMO is its character progression; the feeling that you are building a character as you play it, and that as new content comes out, it broadens how that character then grows or plays.
While Summerset added the Psijic Order skill line, classes in the game have remained static since the game released. Barring the balance tweaks and some of the skill changes that they've made over the last few years, if you played a Sorcerer once, you are using the same skills that you did when the game came out.
IMO, that needs to change. It has led to a feeling of stagnation within the classes that I feel should really be addressed.
What would help?
~Adding new skill lines to the existing classes.
or...
~Adding new skills to the existing skill lines.
or...
~Adding new morphs to the existing skills. (Or a third set of morphs)
Someone also started a thread about character specializations that i thought was fantastic. Having trouble finding it, but the base message was that you can choose your specialization within a class, and it would allow you to further morph all the skills toward that specialization (Tank, Healer, DPS).
I understand that Wroebel is one man, and it's clear to me that he spends a lot of time trying to chase the balance game, and that doing so requires a lot of energy and development hours. I'm sure there's also a lot of trepidation on adding new things for fear of just how much that might throw a wrench into that same balance game. (At this point, that predicament is of Zenimax's own creation by not having balance separated... but I really don't want to start that discussion, for obvious reasons.)
Regardless, I think that the time has long passed to broaden existing classes in a meaningful way. To other players: What things would you like to see added to the existing classes that would be fun? What kind of skill lines? What kind of additions to the additional skill lines? What about further morphs?
Thank you for your time in reading this thread,
~GM
