There are people who like the challenge and unpredictability. It helps immeasurably if you don't play games expecting to always win. Others choose to roll in a clump, which is safe as houses most of the time, even in IC.

If you don't know IC and want to explore it, "Roll a nightblade" is great advice. Invis + speed pots are also very nice, although less so next patch.

I and a lot of people i play with, including most of the people in my guild, agree, IC is just useless, no good loot, only thing u get is telvars that you lose too easily ( i mean that's just a joke you lose half then half then half lol), and you just don't get enough after spending hours in there anyways, and you cant get anything with them when u do have a bunch.... the IC event is the only event i avoid like the plague cause even at 2x the drops it feels like your going nowhere to get nothing but a mat to make prismatic enchants with that u can buy from farming in ANY other way.

You should be able to go in with a friend or 2, have some fun and come out not feeling like you wasted your time

PC/EU Vivec mostly. I run solo and:
A. If districts are taken by other alliances I try to take them alone, if failed I hunt them. How? That's my business
B. If districts are ours I solo bosses for those fat 14k TVs loots

IC has amazing loot, mainly for one reason:

Purchasable hakeijo.

The keys don´t suck either, plus you don´t lose those.

If you run solo, you just have to run at the right time, i e when there is low pop and your alliance owns the districts.

If you don´t do that, sure it might be hopeless, but what do you expect? Run solo with a subpar build in the middle of hostile zergs and not die?

It is a problem with the questline though. Being killed while reading quest dialogue is amazingly stupid design, but it is workable in the end, and the Drake of Blades is one of the more memorable ESO characters.

From the moment I saw the presentation I knew that place was doomed to be a trolls tea party, the whole place was built to service predators and kill squads. It certainly killed the idea of mixing pvp and pve stone dead just as effectively as craglorn killed group adventure zones. Come on ZOS, strip out the loot and shove a pve only version in the crown store, I will buy it just to do the story.

I like Imperial City for the quests and the heikjo, plus it's just a different area. It sure beats normal overland quests which are boring imo.

If you get ganked in IC, it isn't trolling, it's a PvP zone.

My only problem with IC is that some no-risk ganker can steal half my TV while having none himself. Should only get 50% if they have x4 modifier, otherwise they should get like 10%.

Playing in IC is the peak of paranoia. For example I pugged with a random killing district bosses and we each had about 30k. I said I was gonna go bank and he was discouraging me; I then started getting paranoid that he had friends in another alliance and he was fattening me up for them. I quickly left haha. I actually really like this paranoia aspect; makes it feel actually dangerous (you have something of value that can be lost).

The paranoia is a status effect everyone gets as soon as they leave the sewer base

I feel like I earn a good amount of tel var in IC even when I lose half of it. I generally go in solo with PvE gear.

When I was doing the quests, I kinda hoped someone would save me from the long sewer trek back to base after each one. They only seem to show up if I'm fighting a boss.

The IC use to be the best thing in this game and was incredible. Now it's just the same thing with nothing to do, with the usual people in it all the time and you can't do anything about it. Like OP said, you go in alone and you die soon enough, or you go in a group (if you're lucky).

Little incentive to go in now. There ARE some new things they add in there to keep it sorta relevant but meh. Too much stones for it. A long time ago I saw a post someone made about how to improve IC and I believe they suggested adding Flags into the Sewers and stuff to do with them.

I go to the city (mainly the sewers which I prefer more) every once in a while and hope to find something but I just don't and I miss it badly. So much that I added my love of IC to my forum bio lol.

this is absolutely awesome...it made me smile so much...

anything tough requires practice and some patience...think how rewarding it would feel for you to become "comfortable" in ic...

number one rule to pvp in general: don't let dying bug you to much...

let it motivate you...learn/adapt and practice...the imperial city district zones are absolutely gorgeous...

really fun stories and quests...

for better or worse - zos toned down IC considerably...made it much more solo friendly - used to feel like the original craglorn in there...

OP, the IC has been tailor-made for Nightblades.
Just do not go there with other classes.
Spamming Cloak, for NBs the IC is a playground, not a battleground.

Well the sets you can get in ICP and WGT vaults are quite nice imo. I have 45 gold per fragment on MM, don´t know if you´d call that good. If you are gonna farm overland anywhere for XP and... 'stuff'... (I know IC isn´t technically overland) IC is still great.

I don't know. I have both PvE and PvP chars.

Going to the IC with a PvP char, and I get annoyed with all the mobs getting in the way. Most of them are no problem (they're overland mobs, after all), but they're tedious enough that I can't help but wish I were on my PvE char who would just steamroll them.

Training a char to be somewhat hybrid - maybe, but... why? The IC is just not attractive enough to go through all the hassle. Why would it feel rewarding? What I want in PvP, I can get in Cyrodiil and Battlegrounds. What I want in PvE, I can get literally everywhere else.

I go into the sewers to farm keys mainly, so dying and losing Telvar is zero inconvenience.

Go nightblade and l2p, it is very easy to survive in IC with hostile players around, stam or mag build nbs work very well there.
