so i used to only play stamina and when i switched to magicka i didnt like elemental weapon because weaving was second nature and it was hard to do it backwards. BUT you can weave like normal, you do a light attack and then elemental weapon and it activates on the previous light attack. now maybe everyone but me knows this already since i never spent much time on magicka but i figured id pass the info along to others because i have heard people complaining its weird to weave with. and i can confirm even if im right next to the mob and feel like im hitting ele weapon to late it still procs so its actually pretty nice now

EDIT: tooltips have never really been up to par

Kind of right kind of wrong ...

It's more to do with distance

Depending on the travel time of the orb from the staff elemtal weapon must be triggered before it connects to the enemy but also with in two seconds of it connecting

So some times it's LA, EW other times it's EW,LA

I don't find it weird to weave at all. I play a stam sorc so I can barely ever see my character, a rotation has to do with timing and rhythm.

I think people see the skill and think:

Ele Weapon -> light attack -> pause -> Ele Weapon -> light attack -> pause -> Ele Weapon -> light attack -> pause

That isn't possible, light attacks won't cancel the animaton properly or at all if I'm correct. You can only cancel the light attack animation with a skill. Skills can be cancelled via weapon swap/roll dodge/block.

So REALLY it should look like this:

light attack -> Ele Weapon -> Pause -> light attack -> Ele Weapon -> Pause -> light attack -> Ele Weapon -> Pause

This is how all weaving and rotations are performed, there is a short delay after using a skill due to the GCD. Just keep to the beat and you never need to worry about it.

I will however agree that bow's feel really awkward to weave it with, don't know why that is, something about the look of the animation.

it was awkward for me until i realized you can use it after the light attack. so now its just like weaving a normal skill

It's certainly an odd skill to work with. But it works, it just makes you have to think a bit more when weaving it with other skills.

It bothers me when I cast ele weapon and then do a heavy attack.

It should proc on heavy attacks too.

Should you have tested crushing weapon (the stam morph) with a bow, you would have found the same behavior.
The light attack behind a projectile, it will almost always arrive after elemental weapon is activated if you weave it fast enough.

I've tried using that skill a couple of times and went back to more thoughtful spammables.

I run crushing weapon on my Bow/Bow build. And if you time it right with activating crushing, you can land snipe, crushing weapon, light attack, and merciless resolve bow proc, all at the exact same time. It's devastating. Being able to cast crushing while the light attack is in air is the only way it would work on ranged attacks due to travel time.

Did you know you can just cast it and forget it and get price of the skill + like 30% more of it back :D

But back to topic. Imbue weapons takes a practice to get used to, but ranged casting is pretty much same as any spammable so it shouldnt take much to get used to. Its the melee using it that gets most complains in my opinion, because you kinda have to reorganize around the idea that you always have to do light attack after cast to proc it, but the light attack before the cast is the one being cancelled

Plus there is small problem with the ability in melee that if you cast it too fast you can manage double cast (imbue -> LA -> imbue) which will both buff the LA in between

However, if the travel time on your light attack is longer than 2 seconds, you actually have to wait to cast imbue for it to work. If you immediately cast it after the light attack, the buff will run out before impact.

    Depends on travel time.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

Just do a normal rotation and treat it as spammable rather than trying to rework everything for no reason...

Like even if you swap cancel it you still get the same damage on your back bar light attack so you're not losing anything *shrug*
