Please ban unimmersive guild and charakter names

I am so sick to meet people called mountain dew or guilds called Breiter als der Endgegner.
Those name totally ruin the immersion of this great game.

I am sick and tired of those as well, but I realize not everyone is coming to ESO as an immersion-happy roleplayer, and some people are just like that.

...though I wish there was an "roleplay megaserver" and people could transfer their accounts there pending GM investigation and approval of their character names and backstories...
But alas, that is unlikely to happen.

So I carry on, and just ignore people with immersion breaking "just for fun" character or guild names... its much better for my sanity then ranting over it on the forums!

As far as I know the only games which do this have dedicated RP servers where people are told when they select that server that they'll have to conform to RP rules and can choose whether to do that or pick another one.

If ESO did want to offer that option (and it would be an option, no MMO developer is stupid enough to just ban anyone who doesn't want to role-play all the time) they'd have to develop a separate server for it, and since so far all their server/instance changes have been to bring players together rather than separate them that seems highly unlikely.

Even then it's unlikely everyone would be happy, because different people have different standards for acceptable lore names. Some people would say my argonian mule Holds-All-Stuff is ok because it fits the pattern for argonian names (when translated into English/cyrodiilic), others would say it's not because it's obviously letting other players know this character is a mule and that wouldn't really exist in Tamriel.

Also, how exactly does one get immersed? I have never been able to achieve this in any game I have played.

Anyway this isn't a game where people are forced to RP, so I don't see them every banning non-immersive names. In fact probably a pretty sizable portion of the playerbase doesn't RP, or care about RP. I used to use actual Tamrielic names for my characters, but that was from a name generator because I'm terrible at creating names. lol I imagine there are plenty of others like that as well.

At one tIme, I thought ESO was going to sort people based on common play styles, which would filter this to a degree. All that came of that is sorting by guild.

Lets ban everyone playing the Dark Brotherhood DLC as well, becauae that results in mounds of NPC corpses and thats bad for immersion.

Lets ban everyone wearing a costume or outfit that's not suitable for the rigors,of adventuring too! Mages with damage shields are the only people allowed to wearing skimpy outfits - oh wait, shields just got nerfed...

I'm the opposite. I haven't joined a guild yet in this game because everyone that advertises has some RP LARP name that I just can't handle attaching myself to. The guild names I see are literally embarrassing and would never proudly utter that crap irl.

The RP in this game is too much for my tastes.

Do you know WoW?
They have such servers. Players there dont give a *** about server rules and Blizzard does the same.
So why you think, ZOS would do it better?

I dont say that your wish is stupid, just not realistic. I, for myself, love a lore friendly environment, but i have given up the illussion on getting something like this one day.

I feel for ya, but we just have to roll with it. This isn’t a reasonable request.

Consider it a way to connect with other like minded folks. With character names, it is obvious pretty quick who does and doesn’t care about developing actual characters and lore mindfulness.
