Simple PvE Build

KD2306
KD2306
Hello,

I'm sure there are many build requests on this forum, but I need help with a specific kind of build.

I play on a console so I can't rely on add-ons. I'm really not too good with strict rotations, animation cancelling, and weaving. I am also in a very different time zone so I don't find many players online when I play.

Based on the above, which build would be best for me to be able to solo most PvE content such as certain dungeons and world bosses, have a simple and forgiving rotation, and have good self heals, but still allow me to assist with group fights where I can?

I've played as a stam sorc and mag sorc before so I'm hoping there is another kind of build I can try. Some people have recommended a mag blade or mag plar, but I would greatly appreciate some more advice.

Thank you

    I can suggest Stamblade.
Yes, it is not exactly not good for solo survival, compared to other classes om paper, but having class access to every buff in the game, it is the most self-dependant class in the game (main reason why it tops solo trials like vMA) and can survive fine with Vigor/Dark Cloak and timely dodging.
Sustain is fairly good and definitely not an issue in solo conditions.
Also it has an instant class spammable, an instant class burst skill proc, an instant class execute, a class heal(Dark Cloak) and an instant low-cost class ultimate, which are all better and has smoother compared to weapon/guild skills available to others, resulting in natural animation cancellation and a smooth gameplay experience, compared to other classes' skills, which are usually clunky and has channels/cast times and weapon skills as well.
The overall smoothness of the gameplay makes it easily the best solo class for me.

I would first suggest looking at https://alcasthq.com/ for build ideas as he offers multiple sets to consider and have information for newer players to those at the CP cap.

Of course you can simplify it as much as you want, but you have a buff tracker on console that should tell you when your DoTs are running out. AC is not required for anything though the most basic form of AC is weaving a basic attach in before the use of each skill. The skill cuts off the animation of the basic attack.

Good luck and enjoy the game.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sorc is probably the easiest solo class in the game. I think a magic pet sorc is probably a little easier to solo content designed for 4 people, but there are changes coming on the PTS which might change that to some degree.

Simplest way to play sorc is with 2 pets and a lighting staff for heavy attacking. You need to make sure you have power surge up at all times, and use your shields very liberally. Your damage comes from your pets, liquid lighting, elemental blockade, and daedric prey.

Simple bar setups look something like this.

Volatile Familiar, Twilight Matriarch, Daedric Prey, Hardened Ward, Inner light(Bound Aegis), Destro Ultimate
Volatile Familiar, Twilight Matriarch, Power Surge, Liquid Lighting, Elemental Blockade, Attro Ultimate

Bound Aegis is more magic than Inner Light, but with inner light, you get major prophecy (spell crit) so you really dont need fancy potions. We slot the destro ultimate on the front bar primarily for passives, but its also good for large packs of mobs. The Attro ultimate is better single target and gives a group a really power buff.

Your twilight matriarch is your heal, no real need to cast it unless you are low on health. Hardened ward is your main defense, try to keep this up as much as possible. Your damage rotatoin is essentially: LL, Elemental Blockade, Bar swap, Volatile Familiar, Daedric Prey, heavy attack x 2, and repeat. You will do more damage if you light weave all your skills. You have enough time in that rotation that you can actually add a light attack>shield into the mix. Otherwise, keep up surge and ultimates on cooldown. The rest is very simple and circular. It doesnt get much easier than 4 skills and 2 heavy attacks.

Dont over think your gear. You want 2 5 piece sets and a monster set that reasonably make sense (you want magic, spell damage, and spell crit primarily). Necropotence is tough to beat on a pet sorc as a start. Julianos is certainly the easiest to pair it with. Good helms include: ilambris, Zaan, Grothdarr, Slimecraw, infernal Gaurdian, etc.

As noted above, double-pet lightning staff Sorc definitely the easiest.

As an alternative (and this is something you can do on any class) I would recommend a 2-hander for the easy heavy attack with splash damage, and your main ability is Brawler. Brawler simultaneously does AOE damage while giving you a virtually permanent damage shield so you don't really have to worry much about reactive healing.
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.
