Fake account player farmers

I keep seeing low level players (lvl. 3-10) running around farming in places like bal foyen. The problem is that I see the for days and they never level up and when I look up their gamertag on xbox, their Gamerscore is 5! They usually have total jibberish for gamertags and character names. I don't think they are "bots" because they run around and change direction like a player would, not a macro. Should I report them and how do I classify them?

They are 100% bots, using macro controllers. Watch them; you’ll notice a set pattern to their movement. You’ll also find them camped on resource nodes. Easiest way to confirm that those ones are bots is to drop an interactable memento, like the bear trap or mystery meat. They try to “loot” the memento, as they’re programmed to interact with harvestable items within a small radius.

I’d say report them, but ZOS doesn’t do anything about them, so... *shrug*

What would you report them for? You said you don't think they're bots, and you haven't indicated they're doing anything against the ToS, I'm not sure what you would report.

If you don't think they're bots, then why would you report them? Report them for what? They might just be new players trying to build up their stores of materials.

But they might actually be bots. You'd have to observe them for a good long while to see if they have a specific pattern of farming that repeats. If so, then yes, they're bots.

LOL, they’re bots. Macro controllers exist, so it is easy for bot runners to program a macro script on console. I’d report them for unattended gameplay using third party hardware, which absolutely is against the TOS.

That... is actually a pretty fun and nifty idea!
Especially if you do it twice... considering no actual player would possibly loot the mystery meat a second time, yes?

But its always possible to report botting accounts...

    ...because this!
And yeah, we wish ZOS would be able to have GMs to pop in and check on them right away, or at least punish the offending account more severely... I still think they ought to lock such accounts until the account owners pay a fine in crowns matching the severity of the infraction, but... eh.

They are bots and report them as cheating. Report to Microsoft too, I know for a fact MS are proactive when it comes to cheating and botting. It will by no means stop the problem tho.

As I’ve said in other posts regarding this, the botters do it easy on Xbox as when you create a new Xbox account you get 7 days free gold or a a month? And with that you get a 14 day game pass trial which ESO is a game pass title so they don’t pay for the game. It’s an unintended and annoying consequence of Microsoft’s generosity with trials.

Not much you can do except report and move on. I rarely report to ZOS these days as it fills my email inbox up lol. But you should report to them. Come to think of it by they get banned their hold trial is up anyone.

you do know that 3rd party console controllers are licenced by Microsoft/Sony for use on their systems?

I’m well aware. However, if you’re using a third party controller to engage in unattended gameplay in ESO, that’s against ZOS’s TOS.

they are actual people playing. because they ignored the meat sack and when I pelted them with mudballs they got mad and started swinging at me. I just cant stand that they aren't really playing the game. You know they are just gold farmers when you see them three days in a row and they haven't leveled at all and are still wearing the starter rags.

In that case it's likely they are using low toon accounts possibly for a couple of reasons. Superstition about low level raw materials giving better temper odds could be one. The other could be atherial dust chance, also could be superstition but I swear the cipher and the dust drops are higher chances for low toons/accounts to help them earn gold.

I feel the same with furnishing patterns, where my 5 brand new toons each got more patterns finishing Summerset than all my ten level 50s combined got finishing SS. Looting everything on all.

I understand what you are saying, I've heard of that as well. the thing is I've checked their xbox gamertags and they have gamerscores of 0 or 5 and no starter player with levels that low would likely know about resource farming, let alone for rare mats. these are scammer free accounts that are disrupting the game.

Nope, they're bots. Bots can do these things. It's worse in Craglorn. They'll mount up on horses and use rapids.
