PS4 account name change

Sony have just announced that users will be able to change their online ID soon, but they have mentioned that it won't be compatible with all games/services

Will I lose any progress in ESO if I change the associated account name?

Xbox users can do it. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to make it work for ps4

Agreed. But the original fear from Sony was that people would constantly change names to grief others in games like GTA. Something along the lines of a player would troll or grief, get the boot, change their name, then re-engage to grief again. Seems extreme, unless you played GTA Online. Then its totally understandable.

Gah. My current PS4 account was made because I hated the original name I selected when I first got my PS4. That account has my beta monkey, and an apex mount on it...

Sigh, if only I’d waited. I didn’t think Sony would ever give us that functionality.

if it's the same as your forum name just say to them you need to change it as you believe it's a security risk as it has your name in it and they'll sort it out for you

This feature is compatible with PS4 games originally published after 1st April 2018, and a large majority of the most played PS4 games that were released before this date. However, please note not all games and applications for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita systems are guaranteed to support the online ID change, and users may occasionally encounter issues or errors in certain games.

I walked away from a fully maxed account. Full cp, all the gear I could ever want all the DLCs and lots of mounts to restart with a new PSN. I wish this change happened a year ago it would have saved me so much grief.

Games published after April 1, 2018. Sounds like more of a PSN issue as to if this will work than ESO/Zenimax's issue. I'd like to change mine too, but not badly enough to lose any kind of progress here.

That's what they said, which is kinda... weird. Hopefully it will work for ESO.
