Should some old “Overland” 5-set pieces be reworked?

With the overall progression of ESO, it has come to my attention that, with newer, better sets coming in with murkmire along with some DLC related sets, it is making some old sets almost useless(not completely) in the sense that some newer sets are performing better than the old ones.

Not to mention some of the new sets have effects that are almost identical to some of the overland sets.

I do not know exactly how it may play out in the long run, but in general, shouldn’t some of the Overland sets be improved upon or even reworked as a whole to make to get them on par with some of the newer sets?

(Note: you do not have to answer this poll if you want to.)

If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

Absolutely. If factors in the game change that effect sets, then the sets should be updated accordingly.

It's one of the things that we request since... Well forever. Not only overland but also some crafted sets could use that to (like oblivions foe - 8pc set to buff one skill? Seriously?)

But knowing ZOS they rather would nerf all the good sets instead of buffing the bad ones ;)

I am doing my best, but I am not a native speaker, sorry.

"Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game." - @AlexanderDeLarge

Plenty dungeon sets could also do with a do over.

There is too many useless sets in the game that no one uses, it's a waste.

Absolutely :) I think that it would bring more diversity to builds and make every build feel unique.

I agree. But it's not just overland sets that need to be reworked, some of the dungeon sets that are far older like Ice furnace should be reworked on as well.

Some of them only need minor tweaks, too. I can't believe they can't just have some interns go through these old sets and spruce them up.

No. The meta is always changing, the nerf hammer always drops. Sometimes those old sets are invaluable, sometimes they become meta, it just depends. Heck there are plenty of new sets that should be retired. But, that's my opinion. To each his/her own.

    Remove all item sets actually.

They cater only to min/maxers and replace an actual form of progression

No, item sets also cater to players like me who use them to help define their characters. Which means I am often running ‘weird’ sets. Because of that, I’m leery of the developers making changes to overland sets. It could mean me dropping a set entirely because it no longer fits the character concept.

I see your point, but the sets are added in place of actual character skills/customization.

Its a way to lock your character definition behind RNG and keep you playing.

Im the same, i run sets that fit what i want to do and dont care what the flavor is.

But again, id rather have more skills or perks to choose from that are part of my ACTUAL character progression.

Not hidden behind an obvious RNG, carrot on a stick mechanic

80% of the overland sets needs to be reworked and unlike one tamriel this time they should be done right cuz if you change stuff but its still worthless you just wasted time.

No, which OP obviously left out intentionally.

It is absolutely pointless to rework sets as OP is suggesting. An exercise in futility.

With as many sets as ESO has and adds each year it is totally obvious that many of the sets in the game will be much better than a great number of the sets. It is impossible, and silly, to try to make them all comparable in any manner.

So the idea would be a total waste of time and money.

    1. more sets to proc a monster spawn (i.e.similar to maw of infernal, defiler, etc.) for RP and cool effects
    2. sets that "take less dmg from traps" should = less dmg from slaughterfish, falling, lava, and all environmental dmg
    3. sets that "take less dmg from guards" should = less dmg from Cyridil guards and base (trash) mobs that look like guards in dungeons
    4. sets that have a "so-so" 5 pc bonus should have a more interesting 4 pc bonus

I’d like to see less-used sets getting BUFFED with no changes made to the current metas. Buff. Don’t nerf. Introduce more reason to look at the sets no one uses today. Same goes for some monster sets.

They need to increase build diversity by buffing the sets the data shows no one uses. Not by nerfing the sets everyone uses.
