Crown gifting/trading

Do you think they’ll ever implement a system to allow fair trade with gifting crown store items for gold? I play Xbox NA and witness so much scam in zones with ppl selling crowns. It’s always the person buying with gold pays first and then seller doesn’t gift item. Ppl say don’t don’t buy from ppl you don’t know or don’t send gold first and all that but if you want something sometimes it’s the only way. I think if they’re going to allow gifting for gold then there should be a system to avoid scamming. It could work like CoD does just request the amount of gold when gifting and buyer can’t accept without paying amount and has 8 or so hours to do so or item is returned. Also the gifter should has full control over using the returned item or not.

I feel like the whole gifting featured was illconceived. It's great in theory but leaves a lot of room for scammers to take advantage of people on both sides. Reminds me a lot of the vampire/werewolf scams that were rampant during both PC and console launch. People charging exorbitant amounts of gold (and, sometimes, real world money) for a bite only to never receive it upon paying up. And there was little to no recourse other than not to trust anyone ever.

With all the scam reports tickets ZoS must be getting, I guess it would be probably better for them to add an official trade system.

That said, I bought 2 gifts via a group discord with a trust system, you guys should look for those. Maybe the prices are higher but worth it.

If you screenshot and video the transaction apparently support will help if you are scammed

But aye gifting feels intended for known players to me, if folks want to risk a side use its on them, id only use known players personally.

They do give your gold back but it doesn’t get taken away from the person that took it so it’s just more gold being put into the game too.
You’re right it’s best to use the feature among friends or known players.

The reason we don't have strict crown/gold exchange is because ZOS wanted to avoid calling this "P2W". But well it is anyway, so can we stop to pretend there is no "P2W" in ESO and just introduce some fair exchange system? It will stay with us no matter what, so let's just make it as convenient as possible and stop to pretend ESO is B2P. Can't wait for craft mats available in crown store, exclusive monster sets etc.
"We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available."
    — They always claim they’re “investigating” the causes, but in reality they’re just waiting until the PC EU players go to bed. Once that happens, you can suddenly log in again and they happily mark the issue as Fixed.

    Huh??
ESO is hardly pay to win. The craft bag is good, but non subs can still get it every few months.
DLC is payed for, this is how games work, not everything is free in life.
The crown store is cosmetic items, things that make you look cool etc, aside from poisons, potions, and food that you can craft in game anyway.
You don't have to spend any money at all if you want to be the best in PvP or hit the hardest in PvE.

ZOS doesnt have to respond to those tickets at all, its not their Fault you sent someone x-Amount of Gold and they just took the money and put you on ignore. Its not a supported transaction like the Trade Window is, where both people put their wares in at the same time and both parties have to agree on the trade before the transaction is made.

The fact that the person wanting to buy crowns has to transfer the gold first is that as a seller you stand to loose real money as far as I see it. I agree that there is a risk without any official system in place. My rule would be to only trade with people in a guild you are in. And make screenshots.

Crown store gifting-- It's working as intended, except people keep trying to use it for other purposes. The point of "gifting" is to give something for free, and that works fine.

As far as crown store trading that should be implemented in another way because the amount of scam threads I keep seeing.

Crowns should become tradeable in guild traders (with some limits how many you can buy per week). It would save people the hassle to find a seller, kill scams and make ZOS happy as well. It could also help with better retention because giving people motivation to grind for gold is making sure they will stay online more.
ESO is not BDO or Vindictus. There is nothing in cash shop that could be considered P2W.

You are correct but ZOS is allowing this feature. They put it in game and said it was allowed. So if they put a system in that can allow ppl to be scammed they are at some fault.

ZOS has clearly stated, this trade has to be done exclusively in-game chat, no discord no teamspeak nothing.
Staff can track what everybody says in chat, thus if you get scammed they compensate you, its your own fault that you don't listen to the game developers.

No one has ever explained what is P2W about having shedloads of gold. There are already people in the game who have multiple millions in their bank. What, in the crown store, gives anyone an advantage in the game? I mean, "your horsie/bipedal lizard/felid/ungulate mount" is fancier than mine doesn't really mean you "win" anything. The "best in slot" fotm gear is bound, so you can't buy it, for any amount of gold. There are many crafters who can make any set in the game so it isn't like you can pay someone to make you the Invincible Armor of Diamond Perfection and the Uberkilling Sword of Total Destruction.

I guess if you can find an emperor who'll let you kill them for gold, you might "win". Or find several top ranked guilds/teams you can bribe to throw the trials, so you get the top leaderboard spot, if you think that is winning.

Yes I have had to do this twice in the last two months and did get my gold back but wouldn’t it be easier for everyone if there was a fair trade system so ppl wouldn’t have to submit a ticket, wait hours to get the automated reply about this is how you block ppl, then wait another 12 hours to get refund?
