Morrowind purchase concern

So, the game is on sale right now, and I got a friend of mine to join the game. He purchased the 10 dollars "standard edition" that inclused the morrowind chapter.

I bought my copy 4 years ago and quit the game for quite a long time. Didn't manage to pick up the morrowind when it came out. However, it now cost me 3500 crown to get the chapter, that's around 30 bucks. EVEN if there is 50% off crown sale, the dlc would cost 15 dollars, which is obviously more than 10 bucks.

So the price of me purchasing a dlc is more than a new player purchasing a dlc and the base game combined. I honestly don't think this makes sense in any form of way.

I'm not too concern about that extra few bucks I need to spend, but the problem of the developers not noticing this problem, or even decide to ignore it even after noticing it.

Actually, the same problem applies to summerset. Did anyone realise, especially when the sale is going on right now, the price of upgrading from base game to summerset is actually higher than purchasing both the base game and the summerset chapter combined. I know this is because the two items have different discount but even if we ignore the discount, the difference in price between the 2 items is just merely 3 bucks.

Writing til here, I honestly don't know what to say anymore.

Is it possible to buy the Standard Edition while logged into your account, and use that to upgrade it? So you're basically paying that price to add Morrowind to your account instead of starting a new one?

I think it makes sense for both games and expansions to become cheaper over time, but it is weird that it currently costs less to buy the base game and Morrowind than to buy just Morrowind as an upgrade for an existing account. (Although it is in-line with the price of the Summerset digital upgrade.)

I guess they wanted to make Morrowind more expensive that Orsinium (which is 3,000 crowns) to maintain the idea that it was more than 'just' a DLC, and not just because of the Warden and Battlegrounds. Come to think of it all the DLC is quite expensive compared to buying the game through the ESO website.

If you buy the ESO Collection at full price it costs £54.99. If you bought Morrowind, Summerset, Imperial City, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood and Orsinimum and the palomino horse separately it would cost approximately £94.99, or £73.98 if you got the DLC 4-pack (assuming you got 5,500 crown packs at £29.99 each - more if you got smaller packs, slightly less if you got bigger ones).

I know bundles are usually cheaper, but that's a big discount. Even more at the current sale price.

But now that I have the base game and the summerset chapter, I can't purchase the collection bundle or any other eso versions directly. The only thing I could do is to buy crowns and then purchase the dlc in game, which cost more than purchasing them and the base game together.
Well I usually subscribe to eso+ so the dlc wasn't really that big of a deal. The main reason for me to buy morrowind is the warden class. However, just by looking at the warden class, it cost 1500 crown, which is 15 dollars. Still more than the price of morrowind and the base game combined, as of right now during sale.

It totally does from ZO's perspective.

When it launched, these forums were overflowing with suggestions that it would be so cool and fun to buy Morrowind as a separate game and start completely from scratch. No achievements, dyes etc., no champion points, no horse training.

    FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

    Really?

Never mind that even if you wanted to, you couldn't buy many mounts for a new account because the majority are limited time only things.

Morrowind came with a whole new class and no free additional character slots. That's as miserly as can be and I've never seen any other MMO do that. Originally they also only added 2 extra possible paid slots and later a third, at 1500 crowns each. In these ways, and in pricing the way which you understandably consider a bit bonkers, ZO were trying to push people into buying another copy of the game instead of the upgrade.

From their perspective they want players buying mounts again. Throwing money at crates. Throwing money at horse training etc.etc. Even just spending time playing content again for achievements and dyes. Also in terms of sale numbers. Every separate copy of the game adds up.

So it really does make sense to them.

Look, I honestly AM willing to purchase the "standard bundle" which contains morrowind and only get the morrowind chapter from it. But I can't even do that since I already have the base game. Who thought of this wth?

I bought morrowind yesterday with gold. It might be worth you doing the same.

I read the forums every day and literally never once saw a single person mention any such thing.

Well it’s like when you go to the Mac Donald’s and buy a big whopper. And then the next day it goes on sale. You don’t get a refund of the difference for the purchase made the previous day.

Let me try that again. It’s like buying a Big Mac and a whopper separate one day. Then a week later they put the two sandwiches together in a combo with a discount. You don’t get a refund of the price difference for the purchase a week ago. You can think of it as a depreciation of value over time.

    Edit: spelling of depreciated depreciation

Well according to your analogy, I'm in the situation where I already bought the BigMac and now I want a whooper. However, I wasn't allowed to pay for BOTH the big mac and the whooper at the same time but can only purchase the whooper seperately, which is weirdly, at this moment, more expensive than both of them combined. I am perfectly willing to purchase the bundle and just dump the other big mac away but it just wouldn't let me.

And another problem is that the whooper+bigmac bundle is actually cheaper than buying the whooper itself, even without the discounts.

Many of the cheaper bundles does not include the Warden class, better off buying the retail at some key reseller sites atm.. it gives everything.
