Been away for 9 months, hows the game doing?

Like the title says, I've been gone for a good chunk of time. A few video's popped up in my recommended viewing on youtube and they were ESO related. Made me feel a bit nostalgic since I pretty much played from Beta until earlier this year. I've read some of the different patch notes and it seems like some good decisions were being made. I mained an NB and my next most used class was a DK (which I really only used for PvE).

Is summerset fun? I see it's on sale at the moment.

How is the PvP community doing? Cyrodiil still a s*** show? Have a lot of new sets come out and made older sets useless?

I have access to 5 pc sets like bone pirates, ravager, truth, asylum weapon (I know not a 5 pc set, just a weapon), Hundings, Senche, Spriggans, basically all stam based monster sets, eternal hunt, twice born star, impregnable, vicious ophidian, night mothers gaze, and maybe a few others. Are these sets still competitive in the PvP and PvE scene?

There haven't been any major shake-ups in meta really, some new sets come and gone with Summerset already. Next update has a big balance pass on shield and new ability altering weapons which could shake things up a bit.

Cyrodiil still suffers from performance and faction lock issues. The area is getting a big update for destructible bridges and gates, with three new outposts as well.

Generally it had been doing very well.... but there are a lot of very unhappy people with some of the proposed changes that are currently on the test server for the next update.

Probably the biggest outcry I've seen since the game started tbh... fingers crossed they get reverted & we can then recommend the game whole heartedly again!

twice born star, NO from what i've heard mundus stones got a nerf, so this set is no longer worth running
impregnable, YES crit is huge in PvP, guess a little less since MA nerf
vicious ophidian, YES
night mothers gaze NO only for niche situations since it was changed to a major/minor buff so doesnt stack

Umm, dunno what everyone else is talking about.... ESO is teetering on its last legs for most of the ppl who were around since launch in my personal experience. Although there is a lot of new blood, the game itself has become somewhat bogged down in combat scenarios and PvP is a sad shell of its former glory. 1vX is all but dead except for the rare occurrence when you aren't getting zerged down. Battlegrounds was a nice breath of fresh air, but once it when to purely noCP build variety hit the road. Now ZoS has decided to make another big bold move by putting cast times on shields. Now while I commend them for their moxy, I think this change is a stupid one and a giant waste of manpower/money/time. They could have easily invested all those resources to a less obtrusive class balancing or server performance. As for what you get when you buy or play ESO, its still a great game and probably the best MMORPG available on console at least...

dunno, man. if you ask the official forums the game studio has pretty much gone bankrupt for the thousandth time and anybody who still plays it are all ignorant rubes, or that sort of thing, to varying degrees. i hope you get responses with better background than mine.

Answer is related to many variables for different people. At last at 11 million people now.

There's a significant patch coming but in relation to your Class choice not likely a issue.

There's some pvp performance issues that can be noticable but should look better next patch.

You can blow up bridges next patch idk sounds fun no?

Contray to believe many sets are used in gameplay. Sloads doom died though. Bgs are open for all and give great rewards.

Summerset trial is my favorite trial. It's also one of the best looking places and the stories are said to be fun, but usually find myself healing, tanking or playing with my fluffy DPS

It's a good game but you need to judge this yourself so come login and install. Tamerial missed you.

Sub fee is not mandatory. Log in and see if it grabs your attention. If it does, good! If not, then no harm, no foul.

Morrowind was way worse, went causual for half a year and I have never done an dungeon or trial as magic DD outside of normal craglorn trials if they wanted DD rather than healer after it

Next update with casting time on shields will raise the difficulty bar a lot for all magic builds, vMA will be way harder.
also vet dlc and vet trials, also any content with weak group, you queue as fake tank, no healer or DD can not simply pop shield and tank an easy vet while rezzing you.

Keep in mind, the forums are the place where people complain about the game, not cheer it on. You'd be better off going to a guild in game and asking players about the game

But honestly, why not install the game since you already own. Play and see if it makes you happy which I have a feeling it will. Then buy summerset, in time for that free house.
