Some Questions about Damage Shields for the PTS crew

Maintenance for the week of December 16:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – December 16
• NA megaservers for patch maintenance – December 17, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EST (17:00 UTC)

On console there’s much buzz about changes to come. I’m curious about the shields now taking on our armors mitigation. Like DK tank foot stomp igneous shield or a tank using boneshield. Is the tank giving us a damage shield with 30k + resistances now? It sounds like that would be very strong.

The way I understood damage shields now, they have no mitigation; so they get torn threw fairly quick anyways. Adding anything to them would seem like it would help.

Also, block. Is the damage shield affected by holding block? I was assuming block does not do anything for shields now. Will that change?

    The shield has the resistance of whoever it is on, not who casts it. Yes this is a buff, especially for tank shielding and bone shield; basically any shield that didn't get the 1s cast time.

    Not sure about block. There wording of patch notes makes it sound like block will protect the shield, but you never know without testing.

    As the PTS is offline, I cannot say it with 100% certainty, but afaik block still does nothing for shields.
    The resistance thingy works differently as from what you describe it: The value of most shields remain unchainged, but they profit from your PERSONAL resistance now, making them more effective.
    So for example you have a 4 man team with tank heal and 2 dds. The healer casts Barrier for lets say 25k shield value, which everybody gets. However, the tank has 40% damage reduction by resistances, and the rest has 20% (to keep it simple). That means the next attack that would hit each shield on live for 10k damage hits the tank's shield for 6k (-40%) and the shields of the other party members for 8k (-20%) instead on the PTS.

    All that's happening is that mitigation is being moved to the 'Before damage shield' rather than 'after damage shield'.

    I'm not 100% on the tank giving igneous but I'm assuming it will use your mitigation not the tanks.
