ARCTIC BLAST SHOULD BE AS IT IS

Arctic Blast (morph): This morph now fires a projectile that stuns the target in addition to healing you. It requires an enemy target to cast the ability. This ability also no longer deals damage over time based on your maximum health.

THIS SHOULD BE FOR POLAR WIND. AND THIS SHOULD NOT REQUIRE AN ENEMY TARGET TO CAST ON.
Let it function like Sload's projectile.

Or are you guys really jealous that I can solo quests with decent damage on Warden tanks?

AND WHY ARE YOU SO CRUEL ON SKILLS THAT ARE BASED ON MAXIMUM HEALTH?

It’s not that it’s decent damage. It’s the fact it’s a significant part of our damage.

You’re correct though in that it should not be hang d from an aoe pulse to a single target projectile.

It’s also frost damage, so building a decent soloer or easy dungeon magicka tank need this for when we apply the Chilled effect

    @ZOS_GinaBruno

I don't understand what the devs are doing in this current PTS. It is as if everything was done a priori and without any regard for actual empirical data. Are the devs basing everything on numbers and not on actual gameplay? This is the first time I encountered so many unsound reasoning in a single PTS.

If the cost it's the same as artic wind. That is no spammable
I meme, but my memes are so truthful they hurt

I think the change is also bad. A tank needs an AoE to pull trash in dungeons. If not, it makes running a dungeon very annoying for a tank. Trust me, I know. I used my templar to tank when solar barrage had a cast time.

Then there is the fact that the AoE uncloaked nightblades, applies frost damage to more than one enemy, etc. in PvP. That has more value than a stun to me...I could always have slotted sellistrix and used it with this skill which would be a better option anyway for both PvP and PvE IMO (AoE damage + stun working reliably).

All the change means is that I will morph it to the other skill and have to find some other way to pick up trash...

Leave Polar Wind alone. It's actually one of the things warden tanks can take adventage of in group play.

    You deserve an Awesome.

And Arctic blast didn't do decent damage it just barely kept the frost line afloat..

Now we can stun one person who is already hitting us in the face... Yay..

Yes this skill is now well and truely shelved lol went from a barely used skill to a not at all used skill.. meta data fail at work..

Magden deserves to have a reason to use the winters embrace tree just as much as Heathden... why they took a morph that was useful to Heathden and turned it into an ability that is useless to everyone I have no idea... Polar wind should have a Health scaling aoe ice dot added so tanks can still use the glacial presence passive and Arctic blast should have a Mag scaling single target dot added so Magden dps can finally get some PvE and PvP love that doesn’t boost Stamden in some way... This situation as a whole is really stupid because removing ice damage from warden skills is the polar opposite of what the warden community wanted

I like this ^ concept far better than what is on PTS. It seems some been wanting class based stun and instead of devs putting it on an existing but underutilized skill where it would fit more logically they deleted something fun that many already use to placate the few begging for stun.

I'm going to try and recreate the discussion of ZOS' train of thought with this change.

    Scenario 1:
ZOS developer 1: "The Warden community seems to be in agreement that the loss of a class stun from Deep Fissure has left the class at a disadvantage and have asked for it to return in some way. Double barring the Bear ultimate has also caused some issues since players feel compelled to use it to be effective as Wardens at all"
ZOS developer 2: "Hmm, according to our data, it seems more Wardens use the Arctic Blast morph of Arctic Winds as opposed to the Polar Winds morph."
Wrobel: "So what you're saying is that we need to make Polar Winds more attractive to use in group play, while also adding a class based stun and doing something about the Bear to make it feel less necessary? Got it."

    Scenario 2:
ZOS developer 1: "Bruh, this bear is so stupid. I'mma nerf it so I can use a different Ultimate instead of this s***"
ZOS developer 2: "Go for it fam. I'm making Polar Winds more attractive by making Arctic Blast look like s*** in comparison"
Wrobel: "I'm so f***ing high right now"

Shardnado is a pretty powerful stack. Looking at my current stats on my tank using the Winter's Revenge and Arctic Blast morphs, that's 913 passive Frost damage per second.

And then the health return and the immobilization.

Like I've said prior, the intent is probably to establish Shards as an attack ability and Arctic as a defense ability. As opposed to the current situation, where I can just stack them to melt world bosses on a character that isn't even built for damage.

When this skill was still on the PTS I created a max health stacked warden, max health food and sets, and tested it in PvE and PvP (well, impromptu duels with random strangers). I also tested it with Thews of the Harbinger, theoretically something which would return the most damage for a healthden.

I posted the results on the forums.

They were simple. You could kinda, sorta, eventually whittle things down so long as there weren't too many enemies, and as long as said enemies didn't CC or stun you too much. Using sword and board, tried ice staff backbarred, used Balance to regain magicka.

Long story short it'd be an ok skill if it did 4x more damage. Except in PvP, where it's hard to see why someone wouldn't figure out that standing in it hurt, and just move away from your character that can't afford to sprint and certainly can't really CC them back. Realistically, the way it works now, not too many PvP builds would bother moving out of it.

No, Magden really shouldn’t be doing Stamblade damage... it just needs to have more than 4 non ult mag damaging abilities so that it actually has an identity apart from Stamden which uses all the same skills except for flies... so many people ive talked to say they won’t even consider playing Magden in its current state as it doesn’t fulfill the ice mage archetype they were looking for in the subclass and because the stamina counterpart plays the same way as Magden with the stam morphs of the same skills but better damage and survivability

Ice mage in ESO dev's mind is equals to an Ice tank. Where they got that reasoning, who knows?

WE DON'T WANT TO MESS UP POLAR WIND TOO!

I will keep saying this forever and ever. the ABSOLUTE BEST things to do are:

Make old arctic blast the base skill so that polar wind INHERITS old arctic blast, making both skills into one that functions really well and is better than budding seeds in some ways. the polar is kinda boring as is just functioning as a heal, it would have so much more utility to also have that really awesome

Then you remove the tank heal from arctic blast (I say this because Magden already has very many heals and we don't need a really bad heal not intended for us. I mean we have 5 damn healing skills in green balance.) We NEED to add back old blasts damage but make it scale off Magicka and Spell Damage instead. It's optional to add a bit of damage to the projectile because we only care about its old AOE damage. Doing this would give Magden a new and really fun dps skill which we badly need as we only have 4 non ulti dps skills. That can be useful in both pvp and pve.

    it will look like this:

    NEW ARCTIC WIND: zs7uoq55zcoz.jpg

Envelop yourself in winter winds, healing for 15% of your Max Health instantly and an additional 10% Health over 10 seconds.
The winds freeze enemies around you dealing 349 Frost Damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds.

    NEW POLAR WIND: cpnf2t2fgn0q.jpg

Envelop yourself in winter winds, healing you and a nearby ally for 15% of your Max Health instantly. You heal an additional 10% Health over 10 seconds.
The winds freeze enemies around you dealing 349 Frost Damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds.

    New effect when upgraded:
Also Heals an ally for 15% Initially

    NEW NEW ARCTIC BLAST: 1ki9kbjtruy1.jpg

Envelop yourself in winter winds and launch an icy projectile at a target, stunning them for 3 seconds. The winds freeze enemies around you dealing 349 Frost Damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds

    New effect when upgraded:
No longer heals you, damage now scales off max magicka and spell damage, stuns a targeted enemy

aoe damage was not the "problem" with deep fissure. The "problem" was that a stun combined with a huge burst of damage was a problem according to the devs. this is why they removed the stuns from deep fissure, flame lash and crystal frags (i secretly hope they remove it from incap and dawnbreaker too but that is just me).

You know they won't...their idea of a nerf for dawnbreaker and incap was to raise the ultimate cost :D How the dev team cannot see there is a problem when DBoS is pretty much the only damage ult worth slotting is unbelievable. They should at least increase the range or actually fix other ults that are supposed to compete with it.

The change is dumb and needs to be reverted but what I thought it would actually be like Dk’s Inferno. Cast on self, no need for target, it makes a fire aura around the player and then shoots off damaging projectiles to the enemy you’re fighting. A chance to stun could be based on the Chilled passives effect.

Or, they could do the proper thing and revert it.
