Intentional lack of balance?

"We reduced the damage of bear so we could buff the base damage of Wardens; the overall DPS should be within 1-2% of what it was before due to the buff of Advanced Species. This means anyone who doesn't use the bear will see less of a DPS loss."

This is a direct quote from Gina telling us very plainly that the expectation is that wardens will experience a DPS loss. I've read several times since launch on the forums that the game is constantly being rebalanced to even things out and encourage players to use any class for any role. Clearly that is false. I play on console where we have no add-ons and have a permanent section in the forums explaining to us that yes performance in Cyrodiil is and always will be poor but they are looking into it. I play both PVE and PVP regularly and the changes they are proposing in no way will provide more game balance. My reasoning:

Currently if you want to run DLC trials on vet you would in no way be welcome to DPS on anything not a nightblade unless you were the lone DK bringing the extra burn damage for the group. Nightblade is also BIS in PVP for the most part but yes you can do quite well on any class with a good build or skill. These proposed changes won't change that at all. It may mean more stamina nightblades in trials but it will mean fewer light armor users in Cyrodiil and even fewer players that want to attempt difficult content. I play every class both stam and magic so I'm not happy to see that these changes will result in less play time for many of my characters. I don't appreciate the fact that my magic warden will now be useless for everything but healing and normal dungeons. I don't like the fact that my sorcs are now going to be as difficult to use in PVP as they are in PVE. I feel like you should be able to do a good job as a DPS with any class using class skills but that just isn't the case.

Race changes or updates upcoming? None. So if I'm stam I use a redguard. Tank or healer? Argonian. Magic? dark elf. If you use anything other than those 3 you either were away from the game and just came back or can't afford the race change token. High elf is great on a sorc or a warden tho! Yeah, however, you can't bring that trash DPS to vet runs. Sorry. Can you use any race you want? Sure. As long as you are OK with a serious performance gap.

But every class was nerfed so that must be an attempt to balance right? WRONG! It's a weak attempt to avoid power creep. CP keeps going up and the only way to help newer players feel like they can contribute is to hammer down those at the top. DPS wasn't rebalanced. This was a difficulty increase only. Many skills are going to be more costly to use. Many skills do less damage. However admitting the weak hitting wardens will now hit even softer is a very indirect admission that balance isn't coming any time soon. Having to now double bar bird of prey is a joke. I can't stand long cast channel skills or having to double bar anything. It's why I won't run a pet build sorc and won't run a warden after this update. They will get benched with my sorcs. I love playing my nightblades but it would be nice to be able to justify keeping anything not a tank, healer or nightblade.

Thoughts? Anyone else feel that balance isn't on the agenda?

Only possibility I can think of is perhaps they realized the DPS creep/meta that was created isn't as good long term. Reducing DPS even slightly would mean longer fights in both pve and pvp making support classes more needed. I say this based on their desire to make healers more relevant but tanks could also see more relevance with DPS classes doing less damage.

    Just my thoughts...

No, it isn't. Slot the bear and you will have x amount of DPS. Just for the sake of demonstration, we'll say x is 50k, 10k of which is the bear. Remove the bear and you have x - bear DPS. 50k - 10k = 40k.

After the patch, bear = 5k. So now x is 45k and x - bear is still 40k.

That's what was meant by "less of a DPS loss". They are trying to smooth out that gap between using it and not using it. Wardens overall got a buff.

Less reliance on the bear is a good thing, until they can find a way to have pets works better for end game content.
