How many times do I have to tell you guys that I was born on Janurary 1, 1900? ....
Why do you guys forget my birthday everyday, hell every hour?
My hands are tired, since I was infact born in 1900, guys..
So, please stop asking me to over work said hands, by putting in my birthday all the time. Thanks.

These things need to die the death of clickthrough EULAs, e-mail signature disclaimers, and other nonsense that probably won’t hold up in court.

Wow! We were born on the same day! How wild is that? Small world.

I think it remembers you until your browser clears cookies. If you don't save them for the current session, it won't remember you at all.

The stupid thing is that the age gate probably does not mean anything. Those young wippersnappers (anyone born after 1900) can put in any date they want. They can LIE about it. Of course, those born in 1900 are impeccably honest. So, other than making the kids have to do math to make themselves 18, I am not sure what good it does.

I too was born on Jan 1st 1900.
But I think it's a legal requirement to have said age gate, given the game's rating. So as annoying as it is, it's probably here to stay.

Interesting.... you see i was born 1/1/1980 thus making me significantly younger than I really am. It’s my VPN that causes me many a woe including but not limited to, also forcing me to input a verification code every time I need to check on me account.
There! One upped you old timers. Nyah!!!

Well I'll be! What a small and glorious world it is to find that we were all born on January 1, 1900! That just warms my lil old heart. :)

If I was in charge of that age verification thing,. I would troll people so hard... I'd keep a record of which forum ID puts in what age, and after a while switch to a system where they have to send in their actual ID to "verify their age", and then... everyone has their actual birthdate registered in their form ID and never ever needs to do that stoopid "what's your birthday" thing again... but any who -ever- put in a wrong date get banned for life! :p;)

The funny thing us, they act like the game is so "adult-oriented". Type anything on the forums a mod takes a personal dislike to, and they send you creepy little messages twisting whatever you wrote. They will tell you what they THINK you meant when you wrote it, and twist it into something while pointing to the TOS and pretending you violated them. Then they act like you offended and violated the majority of forum users, when in reality they are probably just bored and reaching for something to do.

Fun fact along those same lines. Did you know that almost ever WoW server has a character named "Bowjob" which is usually a rouge. But, if you use the name "bowjob" on a wood else in ESO, the name will be banned and forced to change? :) Even though, WoW is not an adult oriented game at all. :) "The More You Know"

Yeah. The expiration on that cookie is extremely short. Not to mention that it's the only gaming website as far as I know that even does that.

My theory is that a staff lawyer with too much time on his hands thought that one up back in 2014 and it became corporate policy. It's always the lawyers that screw things up.

Amazing how many real world vampires we have playing the game. After all, how else would we have so many 118 year old players.

Seriously, the age gate thing is really annoying, especially when it isn't working correctly.

Plot twist - I too used to be born in 1900, but I got tired of typing it in every day. I wanted to see if it mattered if I was born yesterday. Lo and behold it has remembered that ever since and won't let me view news.

I do. But I really figure no one believes I was born in 1947.

True. Absolutely true. I'm old. I play MMOs and CRPGs. *shrug* I'm good with that.

Neopets did that for the websites age verification and it cost many children thousands of tears when they forgot their passwords and couldn't get them back without the fake date they were forced to use to play kids games on a kids site.

Second Life had a similar happening, when they added actual age verification with the combination of teen SL and adult SL (yeah, they used to be seperate a long time ago). And a lot of people who were underage when they secretly started cybering on adult SL (that's the one with the naughty bits!), and later got of age, and then sent in their age verification... found themselves in trouble when someone at LL checked and noticed they had been visiting adult sims back when they still were... less then legally allowed.
Its... the electronic equivalent of the new bouncer at the bar spotting your faked ID as fake I guess.

But hey... you make it sound like -lying- should not have any consequences. :disappointed:
    Honesty is a virtue!
(Or at least... one needs to be smart about it, and use lies and passwords one can remember as to not be tripped up like that! :p;) )
