How about hazardous environments in bgs or challenging arenas, for example:
Jumping platforms like in vaults of madness before last boss.
Mechanics in environments like vaults of madness or scalecaller last boss lasers.
Fighting on a thin beam where players can fall to death.
Bg would be more interesting if not just a bunch of button smashes of abilities, but environments awareness and player skills and teachings.
