Zos, Why did you ruin the Welkynar Motif?

Very simply put...why did you put these scraggly ass little wings on the chest piece without an option to remove them?

I do however get the impression that you zos don't understand the thing about wings on armour... you either do them full and proper making them glorious to behold...or you might as well not bother, as anything else just looks daft and pathetic.

So are you going to fix the motif design? or at least give us a "no meth pigeon wing" option like you do for light armour [robe vs jerkin]

They’re not going to fix something that isn’t broken. Personal aesthetic preferences being unmet =/= broken.

They already ruined the Trinimac robe this way. The wings used to be on the shoulder piece, but no, we cant have players using a pretty robe without those effing awful "wings".

Welkynar and Ra Gada seem to both be modeled on, or inspired by, real life Hussar armor I think. There are a number of theories as to why the "wings" where worn, but none of the theories are really of the "because... wings dude" type. It was about protection, or intimidation, or some other tactical advantage.

Regardless of all that it does come down to personal preference. I quite like it. Perhaps, at some point, they will come out with the type of fantasy type winged armor you prefer. And I will hope for that right along with you, because I'd enjoy them as well.

I agree with OP, we already have enough scraggly stuff.

Plus... I kinda notice capes, or cape like attire....

    Why can't we have that?

The Trinimac wings float on the back too. Did anyone notice that? They're not even attached correctly.

It is not the first motif to have similar wings.

Zos is not going to change it and doubt they make hiding the wings a choice since it’s part of the motif design. With how many motifs we have and keep getting there isn’t no much reason for them to do so.

Besides, what one doesn’t like someone else does.

give us an option for both with and without crack rooster drumsticks, and boom.. the motif becomes instantly 110% more attractive, thus more people buy/farm it

Apparently I was mistaken; it's"cloaks" that are in game.

    We should have more "cloaks"

Just sharing the link here to the now closed thread about the complaints against the new welkynar motif costing 6000 crowns. They closed it saying there were already threads about this issue. Sure Zos...whatever you say.

I'd assume they were fear inducing when many of them would ride at you all regal and scary..

They had giant wings strapped onto their backs. These wings, which were made of ostrich or eagle feathers glued onto wooden frames that arched up and over the back, made an insane whistling noise while the Hussars were charging, completely unsettling, terrifying, and overawing the enemy

I must be one of the few that like it. Granted full wings would be better but I'll take this. Only thing I DONT like is the way any red you try to dye the metal with seems pink or purple, washed out.

I personally like the wings! They look awesome and why would anyone want to remove them? It is a Welkynar armor. That is what the Welkynar wear! It's like saying, remove the furs from Nordic armour because I don't like it.

As for the real life inspiration, the Hussar wore those wings in an age where cavalry warfare was at it's prime. The wings would make an awful lot of noise, to which the horses of the enemy cavalry were not used to and would often send them into panic.

Considering there is no horseback fighting in ESO, it seems a bit pointless but still. That's what the Welkynar wear and that's what we get

Tbh these wings are the main selling point of the motif. It's its price/grind that ruined it completely.

They aren't going to take them off... but there's no reason they couldn't (or shouldn't) make a variant without them. ZOS is clearly not shy about variant motifs.

It’s the only thing I like about the Welkynar style personally. Take them away and you have yet another basic style.

Edit: I do agree there should be an option to turn on/off. Everyone should have options to do as they please.
