Dynamic rotation? Help

glennsfono
https://youtu.be/FL6gZaNMYzI

Me again, still banging my head against the wall for dps.

With a dual petsorc build and a totally static rotation, the most dps I can do is 37k. I've tried every combo of gear, different foods, different mundus, CP allocation, you name it.

Standard petsorc build. LA, LL, LA, blockade, BS, volatile familiar, prey, clench/crushing shock/wrath/whatever, repeat.

Every time I use the public test server to exactly mirror someone's build who's getting 40k+, I fail miserably and inexplicably.

I'm certain now that a ststic rotation with good dps is simply impossible, so I want to go dynamic. The only problem is that I have no idea how to do this. Cast stuff, swap, cast other random stuff till the first stuff is needing recast, swap back, heavy attack for magicka, oops now the other stuff is expiring and I need to recast, oops so is the first stuff etc etc etc.

In other words, an absolute and total cluster. Ideally, I'd like to roll a magblade eventually because of the higher dps, but until I can even begin to get the tip of understanding how this mythical dynamic rotation is done, I can barely make a magsorc work.

Please, for the love of God, help me

honestly there really isnt much more anyone can tell you that'll help tremendously, it's not like you're missing any piece of key info

its quite literally apply *** just on time, preferably not too early, definitely never too late.

simple in description but insanely complex to carry out even on a dummy. Just takes very deliberate practice. I would recommend starting with as few skills as possible first. So if for example you could have LL on front bar, blockade and ele drain back bar, and only use ele weap and spell sym on the front bar as your spammables. So you're essentially only keeping up 3 dots/buffs while trying not to run out of mag. If that's still too much then take out blockade. If it feels okay then add in curse then after that trap. During this time don't forget to maintain at the bare minimum 0.85 LA, 0.9 preferably.

Once you're comfortable playing bar swap simulator, you just need a little more fine tuning and optimizing, and hopefully by then this vid will seem helpful rather than a complete cluster ***.

Thank you for the reply. That makes a lot more sense. I tried to disregard dps and the idea of a rotation, and only tried to focus on keeping aoe's and dots up on my last parse, but even just blockade, liquid lightning, pet, and curse was somehow frustratingly unmanageable.

I guess I need to just take it down to stupid-player mode and try to keep one dot up, then go from there.

For non-pet sorc there is a static 12s rotation that performs about the same as the best dynamic rotations. Not sure if you’re interested in dropping pets, but let me know if you want more info.

Yeah, I'd love to give it a shot. I've tried a number of different static rotations where the guys in the videos are pulling 40-50k dps, but mimicking them exactly never gets me close. But I'm down to give it a try

Sure, so you want these skills:

Front Bar: Ele Weapon or Force Pulse (whichever you prefer), Crystal Frags, Endless Fury, Inner Light, Bound Aegis, Elemental Rage

Back Bar: Unstable Wall, Lightning Flood, Haunting Curse, Inner Light, Bound Aegis, Flex Ultimate

    Rotation is:
    Flood > Wall > Curse > swap
    3X spammables > swap
    Flood > Wall > swap
    4X spammables > swap
    Repeat

12s Total with 100% uptime on your 3 DoTs. Easy to track by just alternating between counts of 3 and 4.

The spammable would be Ele weapon or force pulse/crushing shock. Replace with Crystal Frags whenever it is instant cast. Swap to endless fury when enemy hits 20%. Your ultimate will also be used as one of the 3-4 front Bar skills whenever available.

If a shield is needed replace Inner Light with Empowered Ward.

There should be a heavy attack after Clench for damage and sustain. That allows blue food. You didn't mention that, so I wanted to point out.
You also activate Twilight Tormentor on a two-pet-sorc every second rotation until 50% boss health.
And on 3M dummy, pre-apply Elemental Suspectibility, not Drain. Switch it out for a rotation skill afterwards.

You can EASILY get above 40k dps with that rotation. Even with bad crits, I never drop below 42k.
Is your gear and mundus really identical to YT builds? LA weaving and barswapping on point?

Yes, that's the painful part. I've been trying on the public test server, so any skills, any gear, any everything. I do my absolute best to literally mimic, but have never hit 40k or higher.

And my weaving is about as good as I can possibly manage. I've been practicing since I learned I was doing it wrong at the beginning of this year.

I've been trying this on pts for a bit now, but for the life of me can't sustain worth a damn. I'm using witchmothers for the recovery and 3 recovery glyphs on my jewelry, but by 50% health on the dummy, I'm out of mag and need to throw random heavy attacks in, but my dps goes to garbage instantly. Been hitting about 23k on average running this unfortunately.

For sustain you will definitely need Witchmothers. Also make sure you have Elemental Drain on the target. It’s usually acceptable to have a friend draining the target for parsing, but run it yourself if you have to. In trials, Moondancer, Orbs and Worm make the rotation sustainable.

I do sometimes wear one piece of regen jewelry if I’m using Siroria instead of Moondancer for a stationary fight. I’m also an Altmer Vampire for 19% more Magicka Regen.

You can consider using an Absorb Magicka enchant on your back bar if you have another way to get Burning status effect and don’t need the Flame Enchant (like a Perfected Asylum staff, or Ele Weapon + Burning Spellweave).
