Sending mail is currently disabled? Help!

I was sending a mail to a friend when I got an odd error/message.
"Sending mail is currently disabled."
I tried sending a mail to a different person and got the same error (See below).
I tried reloading and everything. I can also receive mail as I got mail from some auction sales as I tried sending out the above mail.
What is going on? Am I in trouble or something?

If it is a social ban, sometimes those get handed out erroneously if the system registers something you did as spam. This can happen if the system lags and registers inputs all at once, for instance.
Open up a support ticket and they should remove it if that's the case.2 -

I am an officer in a large social guild and I send out periodic mass mails for events. My guild master believes I have been chat banned because of one of these mails. This same thing apparently happened to her at one point.
This is annoying because it is part of my position to send out these mails. We are trying to determine who in the guild did it and if it was malicious or not.
And I am also being prevented from making sales on our guild trader. So...

✭✭✭✭✭This sort of thing happened in both WoW and RIFT, in guilds where I was the social officer by default. We finally chose to use an off-game email option. It's not ideal of course - but in this case, where you are also banned from making sales....0 -

who? I don't think chat bans can be put on you by any other players. This is ZOS's systems handing out a chat ban for whatever reason it has to do that. Could be an error. But you mentioned that you periodically send out mass mails. That is a type of behavior that share similarities with spammers (while not being that of course), so that sounds like a possible reason.

Yup. I can't make sales and we have an active trader.
I dunno. I have been playing this game since beta and have had an active recurring sub going continuously. I have a stressful job and this game is a way I can relax and just chill. I don't yell at people. I always say "Thank you" or "Nice Job" at world boss and geyser kills. I just try to be friendly to everybody. I even occasionally make low level tier gear for new players in our guild without charging them.
This ban just made me super depressed. I think I may need to take a break from the game for a while, and play something solo.0 -

I receive daily mails from several guilds every day, sometimes several times a day. Raffle accouncements, events, tournaments, competitions. All the crazy stuff that goes on. I guess they could switch to discord etc and I would never receive anything because I dont use those kind of services.1 -

PC has addons that allow you to send a mail to everyone in the guild. It's common on PC for large guilds to communicate this way. It wouldn't be something you'd see on console as sending mail individually to 500 people would be a nightmare.1 -

That's good! Here's to hoping things are sorted soonest. Keep your chin up, and I'll check back on the thread tomorrow. Maybe things will be all better by then.

✭✭Use google to search on "ESO Social Bans" and you'll find other threads that list some possible causes for getting these. I got one twice in a row because I was viewing Guild Traders to update an addon which tracked guild trader ownership and I was opening the trader dialog and closing without searching or buying.@ֆȶɛʋɛƈǟʍքֆօʊȶ⍟

Don’t take it personally. Most likely the ban was automated where the system thought you were sending out spam of some sort. I’ve heard of it happening before with such mass emails, so you are certainly not the first. Just open a ticket and I’m sure ZOS will be able to get the ban removed.

The funny thing here is that I used to only post on Discord and was asked to start sending out mailers. Most people are in multiple guilds using multiple Discord accounts and the posts were getting lost. Ah well.
