I am new to the social part of the game. I have joined a new guild. So now I am in 2 guilds. How do I know what person is talking in what guild? Before anyone in my first guild I joined I believe was always in green. I can't find anywhere how to change this. So I am thinking it can't be changed. Does this mean anything in green is from ALL guilds or just one guild. If so how do I know what guild it is?
Not my quote but I love this saying

I'm going to assume you are on PC.

Hit Esc - Social and there should be an option to change colour of your guild chat (listed as Guild 1, Guild 2, etc.)

To chat in a specific guild, hit /g1 to chat in the first guild on your list, and /g2 to chat with the second one (and keep going if you join more guilds).

The colour settings for guilds are unfortunately per character, so if you run alts, you have to set them up individually (but again, if you are on PC there is an addon that can copy these settings over. I don't remember what it's called because I have all my characters set up now).

If you are on console, then I hope one of the other console players can help you with this.

You can customize the colors of the text including differentiating each of the guilds. I can't remember which of the options it is, as I am not at home. I believe it is under the Social sub-header and scroll down.

Default is all guild chat shows up as green (and sort of a minty blue for guild officer chat). The guild name appears in brackets in front of the person speaking in order to differentiate which guild.

What platform are you on? If PS4, consoles recently had an update where you can go into Options --> Social, then scroll down and customize what color you want for each guild, to make it easier to see. Do note that is character bound, so if you have alts you swap between, the coloring won't carry over from one to the other - you'd need to set up for each toon.

Thank you so much all of you. Now how do I know what is /g1 and what is /g2? Going into ESO now to see.

    *edit*

I am on PC. Was thinking of Xbox One to use the chat feature but I don't have ESO+ on there anymore. LOL.

I ran into just this very thing I just joined a second guild also.

The guild chat should show what guild the person is in that is talking and then their name.

You can change the color of guild chats under the options heading. The default is green.

I learned there are different chat settings and other things for member you can click on the guild ranks menu under the social tab then guilds to see what each rank entitles them to do.

To type in each guild you can enter /g1 or /g2 etc then type your text

I'm not at home just doing this by memory. I found a good video by searching eso guild chat tutorials on google is how I learned.

Your guilds are listed in order as they appear on your social screen and in the order you joined them. So, your first guild is Guild 1. Your newly-joined one is Guild 2.

Also, other short cuts to talk to players:

    /z is Zone Chat
/p or /g is Group Chat (and that displays character names and not account names)
/s is Say or Area Chat, which is only seen by people close to you (you can use this if someone near you is wearing a cool outfit or uses a skill you are curious about)
/w (insert player name) is to whisper someone. In your key binds, you can set a key to auto-reply to the last whisper you received
/y is Yell, which is the same as Area Chat but in red letters.

Thank you all. I see I was in the wrong section to try and change the colours. I see I need to go to Options first and then social. I went straight to social.

New question. How do you play and chat at the same time? What if you are in a battle or concentrating on what you are doing? Do people get upset if you don't answer right away or they understand you can be in a fight and that is why you don't respond. What if you are Away From Keyboard and miss a message?

This is so new to me.

Play and chat would be hard, if you use an mouse with lots of buttons you only need keyboard for moving but don't try this as very few are capable of it.
Depending on filters and how active channel is you will miss messages if afk, you might also miss some.
If its important they will tell again.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I would like to think most reasonable people understand you are playing a game and may not always be able to respond to a message right away. Especially guildmates. If anyone gets testy about not having a quick answer, you probably don't want to interact with them. One caveat - if someone is posting up items they want to sell and you whisper them, best you have pulled over to a safe area (like a town) to do that in. I imagine it feels rude to have a possible seller or possible buyer, then they not respond to your whisper for minutes and minutes and minutes.

Otherwise, respond if and when you can. If I go AFK and come back and see that someone from my guild had whispered me, I'll whisper back a quick "sorry was afk" and then complete whatever the message needed to be. if they are not still around (such as getting the message "account not found" when whispering back), I then go to in-game mail and just send them a message via mail.

Protip: Go to your Social screen, then guild, then look at the roster. If you see a guildmate in a place you need to travel to, you can choose to travel to them and it ports you to the nearest wayshrine in that area... for free! No more paying money to go to a wayshrine if you're in the middle of the wilderness and don't feel like hoofing it around. :) This is what is meant if you see people in chat asking for a taxi or a teleport/tp to a certain map.

You can't be expected to monitor chat at all times. And I sometimes close the window so it stops popping up. I'd imagine that if someone really wanted to contact you they surely would assume you're away from desk or busy. So they'd send you an email.

Edit: You press Enter to go into chat. But once you are in active guilds you'll find you probably can't possibly keep up with the stream of messages. You will probably also at that point start making new tabs and filtering chat in certain ways for certain guilds into different tabs. But then you really can't monitor them all. Perhaps then you'd just tune in for a guild event or something.

You can make new tabs? I didn't know this. Will look into it next time I log in. Thank you again everyone. I really appreciate the help.
